This 7A38-7070, in average worn condition, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet, was listed earlier this evening by a UK eBay seller, as a 7-day auction, with a highly over-optimistic opening bid price of £450, with the option to make a lower more sensible offer. I'd posit that the listing title is deliberately worded to  deceive. Yes, it does include what appears to be an original Seiko p/n B1241S bracelet, supplied loose, but it's so short of adjustment links as to be useless.

This 7A38-7070, in average worn condition, was listed late yesterday evening, by a Mexican eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $420 and currently without the option to make an offer.

Checking my eBay watching page, I see the Mexican eBay seller ended his listing for a 7A38-7070 late yesterday evening, as item allegedly no longer available.

This 7A38-7070, in average worn condition and in need of a battery replacement, was listed at lunchtime today, by a German eBay seller, as a 10-day auction, with an opening bid price of 49.90 Euros.

This morning, another German eBay seller listed what purported to be a 7A38-7070, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of 49.90 Euros. Going by the title, this listing was obviously cloned from the previous, still current, German eBay listing, using eBay's 'Sell One Like This' facility. The seller evidently didn't have his own photos ready at the time, because he used a popular meme as a temporary placeholder image.

Some 3 hours later, he finally got around to uploading some proper photos:

Checking my eBay watching page, I just noticed that the other 'copycat' German eBay seller had ended his 7-day auction listing for a 7A38-7070 this afternoon, as item no longer available, automatically cancelling all bids in the process. The high bid at the time was only 60 Euros. Perhaps he succumbed to a 'back door' offer. :/

The UK eBay seller re-listed that 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet, 4 times, as 7-day auctions, keeping the same totally unrealistic opening bid price of £450. The most recent re-listing ended this afternoon, when the watch sold for an undisclosed best offer. Presumably one considerably less than £450.

This 7A38-7070, in average worn condition, was listed late yesterday evening, by a US eBay seller, with a highly optimistic 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $599.99 and currently without the option to make an offer.

Please check out my other listings for DOZENS of other vintage Seikos

For sale is a hard to find Seiko 7A38-7070 Black dial Sports 100 chronograph. Comes in the original double box set. Outer box is bit weathered. Great working order. I have cycled through the chronograph running for a half or hour, stopped, and reset about 20 times over the last couple days and it works flawlessly. Pretty clean watch with light scratches throughout, most notably on the bracelet clasp. Crystal has no scratches. Original band. Watch diameter is approx. 40 mm without the crown and buttons and 44 mm with the crown and buttons. Quickset day and date work properly. Watch is currently setup to fit rather tight on my 7 1/2" wrist, so probably would fit a 7 1/4" wrist comfortably. Plus it still has two extra position holes to move the bracelet outward from the clasp to add perhaps another half inch if needed. So, when setup for the largest size, should be around 7 3/4".

Hi. I recently purchased this 7A38-7070 after placing a WTB on the Omega Forums. It's on its way to me from Vienna.

Thanks for re-posting it here, Dave.

As I replied in the 'Show and Tell - Your newest incoming 7A' thread (and by PM) that 7A38-7070 appears to be a very nice example, commensurate with the price you paid. Congratulations. Hope it doesn't take too long to arrive and trust it meets your expectations when it does.

Well, the watch arrived and it's in great condition.  Thanks to some advice from Paul I managed to remove a few links from the bracelet.

After wearing the watch for the day, my only criticism is the polished hour and minute hands seem to get lost in the dial. I can see why they changed to white hands In later versions and the military issued pieces. The polished hands make the watch quite hard to read in my opinion.

This well-worn 7A38-7070, fitted with an ill-matched 'Racing' style leather strap, in place of the orginal bracelet, was listed yesterday evening by a Spanish eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 415 Euros, or the option to make a lower more realistic offer.

This one-owner, well-worn 7A38-7070 and a 7A28-7040 in average condition were listed late yesterday evening, as a job lot pairing, by a UK eBay seller, as a 7-day auction, with a frankly ludicrously over-optimistic opening bid price of £975.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283867995163

By Midnight, the seller had already made a number of revisions to the listing:

They included reducing the opening bid price to a marginally less ridiculous £899. Allhough the seller appears to have changed the photos, I couldn't see which - and quite frankly some are bordering on appalling (given the price he's asking). I haven't bothered uploading the worst of them. There is a replacement bezel insert included, but it is just a cheap generic aftermaket insert, rather than a Yobokie's repro' insert.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm283867995163

please study photos (sorry poor pics) and read all the info thanks.TWO seiko vintage speedmaster sport 100 divers chronometer watches owned by me from new (1987),used mostly for rally timing + 7070 also used for everyday use, serviced every 10 years for seals and batteries cleaning etc ( both watches batteries have lasted 10 years so i dont know exactly how long they would last) Both had new batteries + rear case seals in FEB 2020. 7070 purchased on 19-1 -1987 and 7040 28- 3 - 1987.**7070 has the day and date in the dial. 7040 does not. AND also the days can display in either french and in colour, or uk spelling in white. 7070 has more marks from wear as it has been worn every day for 33 years, the case back has become highly polished from wearing ,there are a few tiny marks to the crystal . plus there is slight wear to the bezel face (see pic) i sent it back to seiko in FEB 2020 for a new bezel etc but they can no longer supply one. A replacement has been found for me(supplied) but not fitted (this would make it unorigional,) 7040 was used only on rallies by my navigator hence almost scratch and mark free.ie not worn very often. Both watches were purchased new by me from ernest jones jeweller 163 high street cheltenham , now in regents arcade in cheltenham. they have also serviced the watches and sent them off to seiko as and when required . All functions fully work without any problems,1/8 sec chronos, split timing ,flyback, bezels are free moving on ratchet .Both are 15 jewel actions once used by RAF / SAAF /and i am told in an early bond film, both have the origional strap bracelets and click clasps.with some spare links and pins. a replacement bezel is also included. Both service book/ instructions book/purchase receipt/ some seiko receipts/2 ernest jones soft storage bags/2 letters from seiko via jones ,i am no longer rallying.NOTE neither watch can be guaranteed for water use as they have not been pressure tested as i do not do diving, any further info do ask 07989798804,these are NOT the usual 8 owner some parts not working etc, 1 OWNER FULLY OPERATING SERVICED CLEANED WATCHES with wear marks due to age. with some paperwork/ bags and original service/instruction books ***ONLY POSTED ROYAL MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY SIGN FOR INSURED OR COLLECT IN PERSON thanks.

This morning and at lunchtime today, the UK eBay seller of that job lot pairing of well-worn 7A38-7070 and 7A28-7040 made a couple more revisions to the listing.

These included further reducing the opening bid price down to 'only' £799; replacing the primary image and swapping a couple of other photos, including replacing one (which I hadn't bothered uploading before) of the generic aftermarket bezel insert.

Selten: SEIKO Quartz Chronograph Sports 100 ,7A38 , GUT !.

That 7-day UK eBay auction for a pairing of 7A28-7040 and well-worn 7A38-7070 ended late yesterday evening, not surprisingly without any bids placed - Unsold.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283867995163

I noticed this stubborn and deluded eBay seller had since made a couple more revisions to his listing, including adding this to the description at the weekend:

***HI JUST TO BE CLEAR AND ANSWER QUESTIONS I WILL NOT SELL INDIVIDUALLY OR RELIST IF IF NOT SOLD THEY ARE A FAR BETTER INVESTMENT THAN IS AS OR SAVINGS AT THE BANK> IF I DID RELIST INDIVIDUALLY IT WOULD BE AT THE GOING RATE OF AT LEAST £500 EACH SO GET A BARGAIN AT LESS THAN £400 ***

So if he stays true to his word, that might have been the last we've seen of him. :)

Over the last two days, an Italian eBay seller ervin.pepa listed a number of 7A's. He appears to be selling off a collection. Generally speaking, they're all typically speculatively over-priced for their condition, regardless. His favourite price point appears to be an exceedingly ambitious 600 Euros. Yesterday evening, among other 7Axx watches, he listed this 7A38-7070, in no better than average condition.
