This 7A38-7070, in average / well-worn condition, fitted with the wrong case-back off a stainless two-tone 7A38-6080 (and hence the erroneous title), was listed this morning, by a German eBay seller, as a 7-day auction with a low start opening bid price of 1 Euro. After 4 hours, the bidding is currently just over 150 Euros.

The above quoted 7-day German eBay auction for a 7A38-7070, in average worn condition, but fitted with the wrong case-back (off a two-tone stainless 7A38-6080) ended a few moments ago, selling for 182 Euros after 31 bids.

This 7A38-7070, in average worn condition, fitted with a non-original replacement Seiko bracelet, likely donated by a late 70's vintage Seiko digital, was listed this afternoon, by a UK eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of £350, or the option to make an offer.

Seiko 7a38-7070 vintage quartz chronograph 1986.

Fully serviced, excellent condition, vintage Seiko signed bracelet sized for 7” wrist with some slight adjustment. Day date display. All functions correct. Crystal is unmarked. Some very slight marks on bezel. All original.

Some slight marks commensurate with age but I doubt you will find a better example. From my personal Seiko collection.

Check my other listings as I am selling all my vintage Seiko quartz watches.

Checking my eBay watching page, I notice the UK eBay seller of that 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original replacement Seiko bracelet, had ended his listing late yesterday evening, as allegedly no longer available. Possibly sold off eBay in response to a 'back door' offer ? Who knows ? :/

Apparently not - because it's back on eBay, re-listed earlier this afternoon, with the already optimistic 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price now increased to £399.

I note with mild satisfaction the seller has since revised his re-listing, making a slight amendment to his description. What originally read just 'All original.' now reads:

All original, although the bracelet is not original to the watch.

This 7A38-7070, in average used condition, was listed earlier this evening by a UK eBay seller, as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of £160 and the option to make an offer. It's a pity the 4 photos he's uploaded don't give a better overall view of its condition. One thing's certain, from the crud visible between the bracelet links, it would benefit from a good clean.

Two effectively non-results for the preceding 7A38-7070's. :/

Late this afternoon, UK eBay seller robertparker2424 ended his re-listing for his example, fitted with a non-original replacement Seiko bracelet, once again, as allegedly no longer available.

The other slightly grubby looking example, subject of my previous post, listed by UK eBay seller laleydijan, sold earlier this evening for an undisclosed best offer.

This well-worn 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original generic replacement bracelet and a cut-down aftermarket bezel insert, was listed earlier this evening, by a German eBay seller, as a 1-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Euro.

The above 1-day German eBay auction for a well-worn 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet and cut-down aftermarket bezel insert, ended a few moments ago, selling for a quite incredible (given the overall poor condition) 234 Euros after 48 bids. Checking the eBay Bidding History reveals that of those 48 bids, 20 were placed by the winning bidder, who seemed determined to beat a Zero-feedback bidder who'd earlier placed 12 bids. Really does beg the question why.

This 7A38-7070 in average worn condition, with a couple of minor chronograph faults, was listed in the early hours of this morning, by a US eBay seller, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $199. It's tantalizingly being offered to potential buyers outside USA through eBay's dysfunctional GSP programme. Unfortunately anybody in Europe, attempting to place a bid will find themselves blocked, because of the covert embargo agreement with Seiko. If it did actually work, it would add a further $89 in charges to the opening bid price.

Seiko Sports 100 7A38-7070 chronograph watch, black/gray, for parts/repair

Keeps good time, including date and day. For parts or repair because the stopwatch has two problems: both the seconds hand and minutes hand sometimes do not move forward, so the hands fall behind by several seconds and minutes, respectively. When this happens, the hands do not properly reset to zero, but manually resetting them works (pull out the crown and press the appropriate button). The top right sub-dial for measuring fractional seconds works. The bezel rotates as expected. The watch shows signs of wear and needs to be cleaned.

***

Features a black dial with gray sub-dials. The case, bracelet, and outside of the bezel are a grayish silver, which is not very shiny.

The bezel rotates in both directions and clicks, as designed.

You can find information about the 7A38 movement on the internet.

As with any used watch, you should get the watch serviced before testing the water resistance.

Dimensions:

- Width (excluding crown): 40 mm

- Lug-to-lug: 43 mm

- Thickness: 11.6 mm

- Lug width: 20 mm, flares out to 24 mm

- Weight: 115 g

Truly incredible. This afternoon, deluded UK eBay seller robertparker2424 re-listed his 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet, for a second time. He's now increased his 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price again - to £450 !!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184396431095

That re-listing lasted less than 8 hours, before he pulled the same stunt again.

The crass stupidity continues.  It's back on eBay again, re-listed for a third time this morning, with the 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price now almost predictably increased to £499:lol:

With apologies for the near oversight - for not having posted this earlier. This nice example of a 7A38-7070 was listed on Catawiki last week, by a Turkish seller, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Euro. As usual, their alleged expert clearly has no real idea and has given it an estimate of only € 200 - € 300. Bidding is already @ € 260, with more than a day of the auction left to run. It has already attracted has more than 50 watchers and I predict the bidding will likely end rather higher than € 300.

The above Catawiki auction for a nice 7A38-7070 ended a few moments ago, with bidding @ 320 Euros. Adding the 9% buyers premium gives a total of 348.80 Euros. I thought it might have done better than that. :/

It looks like UK eBay seller robertparker2424's shenanigans have finally paid off. Checking my eBay watching page, I noticed his much re-listed 7A38-7070, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet, sold yesterday afternoon. Not for his thrice hiked Buy-it-Now price of £499, but ....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184397301690

.... As revealed by the alternative 'true selling price' link for a best offer of £400.

The 7-day US eBay auction for another 7A38-7070, on the corrrect original bracelet, albeit with a couple of minor chronograph faults, ended in the early hours of this morning, selling for a mere $250 after 5 bids, equivalent to approx. £190 - less than half the inflated price of the previous lesser example. :/

This well-worn 7A38-7070, fitted with an ill-matched 'Racing' style leather strap, in place of the orginal bracelet, was listed yesterday evening by a Spanish eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 415 Euros, or the option to make a lower more realistic offer.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153914666248

I was just scrolling through my eBay watching page, looking for more ended items to delete and noticed the deluded Spanish eBay seller had finally ended the quoted listing (from the end of April) for a well-worn 7A38-7070, fitted with an ill-matched 'Racing' style leather strap, two days ago - as allegedly no longer available.
