This Yema N81X26, still fitted with the original Yema tan leather strap, was listed in the early hours of this morning, by a US eBay seller, as a 5-day auction, with an opening bid price of $295, or the option to make an offer. In case readers don't recognise the eBay ID, it belongs to forum member 'PHK' (a.k.a. Paul in Vegas). 8) The wrist shot he's included among his listing photos is one that he'd posted in the WRUW thread back in October 2017.

Paul's (PHK) Yema N81X26 sold earlier this evening for an undisclosed best offer.

This supposedly NOS Yema N80P896 Psuedo Plongeur was listed late yesterday evening, by a US eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $275, with the option to make a lower, more sensible offer. Apart from looking generally shop-soiled, with light scuffs on the bezel and a grubby inner strap, the watch has been ruined, by some incompetent ham-fisted botcher, who has inflicted some nasty toolmark scratches on the case-back.

Checking my eBay watching page, I see that supposedly NOS Yema N80P896 Pseudo Plongeur sold in the early hours of this morning.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153850578282

Not for the Hawaiian eBay seller's 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $275, but as revealed by the alternative 'true selling price' link, for a more realistic offer of $180:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=153850578282

Checking the eBay Purchase History shows that was almost the only offer made.

This morning, a US eBay seller listed this Shimauchi Ltd. V906 movement, with a Buy-it-Now price of $99.99, or the option to make an offer. He's trying to pass it off as 'NOS' - his perverse logic being that that he removed it from an allegedly NOS Kamatz. It's NOT NOS - not by any stretch of the imagination - in fact, it's distinctly used, having been removed from a 30-year-old Kamatz 517000 - and indeed is still fitted with that watch's 'Reverse Panda' dial, hands and Tachymeter ring.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224010041115

Here is brand new NOS Japanese Movement.

This Movement came out of NOS “Kamatz” French watch.

That supposedly 'NOS' Kamatz 517000 / Shimauchi V906 movement sold at the weekend. Not for the $99.99 Buy-it-Now price, but against a best offer.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224010041115

Unfortunately, thanks to eBay's further deliberate obfuscation of best offer selling prices, as explained in this thread - (which I updated on Friday), I'm currently unable to determine what price it actually sold for.

This Kamatz 517000 in average / well worn condition was listed last weekend by a US eBay seller as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $31 and the option to make an offer. I deliberately didn't post about it here before today, so as not to attract any more unwanted attention. ;)

RARE COLLECTIBLE MEN'S FRANCE WATCH "KAMATZ" Leather Band Made In FRANCE. Condition is Pre-owned. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.

It might not have looked anything special, but I wanted it badly. This is one of the slightly scarcer variants with the all black dial. Despite having collected these for over 10 years, I still didn't actually have one in my collection. I had some mildly annoying competition from another bidder, but sniped it to easily win the auction, earlier this morning, for $75 after 13 bids. :)

This blingy Jaz N8YZ63, fitted with a non-original ill-suited gold-tone bracelet, was originally listed last week, by a US eBay seller, as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $12.95 and the option to make an offer. Purchase and shipping outside CONUS is through eBay's dysfunctional GSP programme. Unfortunately, it's been abused and maltreated by the seller, who seems to find it amusing (see title).

I sometimes flinch at the appalling greed of certain eBay sellers. One such, whom I've slated on many previous occasions is Italian profiteering re-seller cmax-28762. Earlier today, he listed a Yema N7 / N8 instruction manual, with a nothing short of extortionate 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 59.90 Euros:o

Fortunately, I don't need one. :) Although I effectively paid double his asking price (120 Euros), six years ago, mine came complete with an almost mint condition 'Mission Flags' dialed Spationaute III. See top of page 9 of this thread.

This Yema N81X26, fitted with a NATO strap, was listed yesterday evening, by a French eBay seller, with a highly over-optimistic, 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 390 Euros. There is also the option to make a lower more realistic offer. The seller claims that the watch is in Almost never worn - perfect condition. His photos tell another story, with plenty of scuffing on the case-back and around the bezel. There also appears to be un petit problème avec 'La bête grande couronne vissée'. Had a good laugh at his 'workaround solution'.

Ancien Chronographe Yema Quartz cal. Seiko 7A38

- Fonctionne parfaitement / Tient l'heure parfaitement - pile neuve

Vintage Chronograph Yema Quartz cal. Seiko 7A38

- Works perfectly well / Keeps time perfectly - new battery / service would be recommended

- Chronograph functions work perfectly - reset to zero is OK

- Stainless Steel Case / Mineral Glass / Screwed crown

- Almost never worn - perfect condition

- When the crown is screwed, the day of week is incremented (ex: "TUE" moves to "WED"). This is probably repairable by a watchmaker, nevertheless this not an issue, you just need to set the day to day-1 before screwing the crown.

There have been a few dressy Yema N7's listed on eBay in the last couple of years that I've spotted, but haven't bothered to mention in this thread, simply because they were over-priced, unlikely to sell and aren't very popular with most collectors (other than as '7A28' movement donors). I'm going to make an exception in this case, for no other reason than it's another opportunity to expostulate a would-be profiteering re-seller - and because thanks to his efforts, it's now a bit of a mess.

Yesterday evening, Canadian eBay re-seller vintage_wheel_time (a.k.a. banned ex-forum member 'thierry') listed this grossly over-polished Yema N71X33 '7A28' as a 7-day auction, with a highly optimistic opening bid price of $250 CAD. Apart from having been buffed to death, with the gold plating almost worn through to the base metal underneath, it's been fitted with incorrect replacement Seiko sub-dial hands. Looking at the 30 minute counter, that hand appears to be well off its marks.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153991939082

(eBay listing photos removed, after a complaint by the whingeing canuck re-seller).

Yema chronograph watch made in France when the Yema company was owned by Seiko, it is powered by the popular Seiko 7A28 caliber.

The 7A28 caliber was the first quartz analog chronograph in the world available in 1983.

These movements lacked any plastic parts within the gear train and with their 15 jewels, they can be serviced and adjusted like any mechanical movement. This makes them almost indestructible but as a consequence, most watches with this caliber have been used and abused during decades and it becomes very hard to find one in nice cosmetic condition.

The one for sale here has an unknown history but it has been really well preserved. The watch is in an exceptional condition for being over 30 years old. No box or paper are included.

It keeps excellent time and all functions work as they should.

- Pull the crown on the bottom left one click and press the top right pusher to adjust the position of the 1/10th s. chrono sub dial on the right. Press the bottom right pusher to adjust the position of the big second chrono hand and press the top left pusher to adjust the position of the chrono's small minute hand on the left.

- Pull the crown two clicks to adjust the time.

The chronograph stop, starts, runs and resets like it should, including the fast 1/10s hand.

New battery installed.

The diameter of the case not including the crown or pushers is: 37 mm

The lug to lug length, the one needed to choose a band is: 18 mm

The thickness measured from the center of the dome shaped crystal to the back case is: 11 mm

In case you didn't recognise it, this is the same Yema N71X33, case-back serial # 4_497, which was listed by a French eBay seller a fortnight or so ago, in a job lot, with a stainless 7A38-6090. Note that the N71X33 was missing two chronograph sub-dial hands (the typical Yema stick style, still present on the constant seconds).

They sold (as a job lot pair) a little over a week ago, for the opening bid of 90 Euros:

I suspect there are a minority of readers who are fed up of seeing me complaining about the profiteering that happens all too regularly on eBay. If so, I suggest they look away now. Yesterday evening I came across another blatant example of this practice by a long-time exponent. And I do mean 'long time', because he's been at it since at least 2009 and seems to specialize in selling this particular watch. I am of course talking about French eBay seller montre-luxe-occasion. If the eBay username isn't familiar, or you just want to refresh your memory, run a search on the forum on montre-luxe-occasion and you'll find where he's featured in this thread before, starting halfway down Page 9 - but the story goes back a lot longer than that. He was briefly a member of this forum before I banned him.

Yesterday evening, this would-be profiteering re-seller listed a Yema Spationaute III 38mm reduced, with a risible 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 489 Euros

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232717339744

The primary image in his listing is a wrist shot taken by forum member Steve7A, which he'd posted at the top of Page 72 of the WRUW thread and subsequently used as his primary image, when he sold it on eBay last month (see previous page for full details of Steve's eBay listing).

Although all the photos have been 'borrowed' from Steve's listing, the description appears to have been copied from the original eBay listing (by 1placevendome), dating back to 2009 and later used by montre-luxe-occasion-com in April 2014 (that eBay ID was subsequently abandoned). Note the same case-back serial number 2 - 270. Turns out it wasn't an oversight on their part, as I intially thought, but a rather amusing 'coincidence'.

Verre : Saphir. Excellent état

Dimensions : Épaisseur 12mm. Largeur hors couronne: 38mm.

In case that wrist shot of Steve's doesn't ring any bells, here's where he sold it last month, for $185Au - equivalent to approx. 115.30 Euros at today's exchange rate.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263528667999

Checking the mutual positive feedback left, it appears montre-luxe-occasion used a different (private) eBay ID to purchase the watch from Steve. I'm wondering now, if Steve realized who he was actually selling it (back) to, at the time. :/

Please excuse the number of edits I've made to this post: I've just realized this is a case of Déjà Vu - in more ways than one. The common denominator being that all too familiar case-back serial number: 2 - 270. Here's where it was first listed in April 2014 by montre-luxe-occasion-com, initially with a ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 1499 Euros, later reduced to 'only' 949 Euros.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261453150023

The watch was re-listed umpteen times over the next 18 months - usually with a Buy-it-Now price of 749 Euros (see my last updates at the top of page 18 of this thread) until the end of November 2015, when montre-luxe-occasion eventually re-listed it as a 7-day auction with an opening bid-price of only 1 Euro.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231767528896

It finally sold for 301 Euros after 22 bids: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231767528896

Ironically I finished that post by writing:

Hopefully that'll be the last we see of it.

I hadn't realized it was Steve who had bought it - and due to his changing the strap (and my having previously failed to spot the same case-back serial number in his eBay listing description) didn't make the connection until this morning. The upshot being that it's back once again - with the original seller, who's looking to make another fat profit by re-selling it. How long will it take him this time ?

Well it evidently took would-be profiteering re-seller montre-luxe-occasion a couple of years to finally work up the nerve to re-list it again, but here is Yema Spationaute III 38mm reduced, model N80A696, case-back serial number 2-270, back on eBay again this afternoon !!

This well-worn Kamatz 517000 was listed yesterday evening, by a US eBay seller, with a highly over-optimistic 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $129.75, with the option to make a lower, more realistic offer, commensurate with its poor condition. It's being offered to buyers outside CONUS through eBay's dysfunctional GSP programme, which potentially adds another $57 in charges.

This Kamatz 517000 in lightly used condition was listed yesterday evening by a US eBay seller, with a laughable 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $237.77  - or the option to make a much lower more sensible offer. Not only is his asking price almost double what anybody in their right mind might consider paying for one of these 'fugly' watches, but it also needs a new battery ! To add insult to injury, he's offering it through eBay's dysfunctional GSP programme, which potentially adds another $84 in charges on top of his ridiculous asking price !

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293060316064

When watches remain unsold for extended periods of time (usually because they're over-priced), I tend not to bother posting updates, except for example, if the seller makes a dramatic price reduction, re-lists the watch with a fresh set of photos - or when it eventually sells. So unless they've read through the previous pages of this thread, a new member may possibly get the false impression that I'd missed one.

Late yesterday evening, new member Michael, from the Ukraine, posted a link and the primary image (neither of which actually worked) of a Kamatz 517000 listed on eBay. Not in this thread, but in the Wrong Un's thread in this forum section.

This was the same Kamatz 517000, listed by a US eBay seller, in the last week of April, which I'd previously posted about on page 33 of this thread (see partial quote) and still remains unsold. The seller has made a couple of revisions to the listing, reducing his Buy-it-Now price from $237.77 to $204.

So if you're wondering why I deleted your first post, Michael - Sorry .... ;)

With apologies for the double quote - I'm just carrying forward the relevant posts from previous pages. Again, simply because it had dragged on for so long, I hadn't bothered posting any more updates to the saga of this Kamatz 517000, which was first listed by a US eBay seller in April 2019. Since he'd re-listed it in April this year, the US eBay seller had made a few revisions to the re-listing, eventually reducing the Buy-it-Now price down to $129.

At that stage, I briefly considered making the seller an offer, but decided that I really didn't need yet another Kamatz 517000, particularly when I already had two of the blue dialed versions in my collection, one of which was NOS on the original strap.

Checking my eBay watching page, I noticed that the US eBay seller had ended the re-listing earlier this evening, because of an error.

Possibly some canny potential buyer had persuaded him to drop his price even lower. He re-listed it soon afterwards, with the Buy-it-Now price further reduced to only $90. The listing was live for less than 30 minutes, before someone sensibly hit the B-I-N button and put an end to this saga. Not such a bad buy at that price either.

Lately this thread seems to be turning into the 'Kamatz 5xx000 spotted' thread. This common-or-garden tricolour sub-dial 517000, fitted with a rubber 'Dive' strap and more significantly, the wrong case-back off a 519000 Tango Charlie (hence the erroneous listing title), was listed late yesterday evening, by a Hawaiian eBay seller with a ludicrous 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $395, with the option to make a much lower offer.
