A very subtle one this .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320961832897 Rare SEIKO 7A38-7010
RARE SEIKO 7A38-7010 Très bon état, Mouvement chronomètre Quartz avec date et jour en Français et Anglais. Aucune rayure sur le verre.
Je réponds aux questions via Ebay,
Rare vintage 7A38-7010
GOOD CONDITION NO SCRATCH ON THE GLASS DATE AND DAY IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH Runing perfectly I answer all question via Ebay You'll notice there's no mention of the replacement bracelet in the seller's description. It may look very similar to the original Seiko p/n Z1118S bracelet, and be fitted with the original SQ 7-hole clasp .... But the bracelet itself is one of those generic 20mm 'Feiko' bracelets that you can buy from the likes of Mountapo_Merchant on eBay for $9.99. Like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIKO-BRACELET-6138-0011-6138-0012-UFO-WATCH-/271020918485 See previous page for a couple of photos of a 7A38-7010 fitted with the correct bracelet. Whoa ! Reset. Please excuse my re-quoting my own previous post in full. Note, the seller now asking 165 Euros for this less-than-perfect 7A38-7010 is the same Martial_Auvergne ....

I may be mistaken, but I don't think I am. This is the same 7A38-7010 which he previously allegedly sold at the beginning of June for only 76.00 Euros. Check the marks on the bezel inlay, some of which were previously hidden by the non-standard odd-fitment crystal gasket. One that wasn't hidden in his previous smaller listing photos is the ding under the 'M' of Tachymeter. It's the same watch. Caveat Emptor, Messieurs.

The recent listing for that 7A38-7010 has been cancelled, but oddly, not before the seller had reduced the price to 99.00 Euros. Subsequently re-listed, earlier this morning: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm//320964184298 Now with an opening bid price of 75.00 Euros or Buy-it-Now for 149.00 Euros, which bearing in mind what it sold for previously ....

This one isn't quite so subtle; it's pretty obvious in fact, but in case anyone looking doesn't realize - I'll state the bleedin' obvious. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140828629384 Seiko 7A38-7070 Vintage Day/Date Quartz Chronograph
Vintage Seiko sports chronograph in perfect working order. Features unidirectional time bezel, 30 minute analog chronograph (records 1/10 of a second through the first 10 minutes), tachymeter ring in bezel. Only needs a new battery. PayPal preferred payment method. Contact me if you prefer a different payment method. No problem with PayPal, but I'd prefer a different bracelet, which at least looks something more like the original Seiko p/n B1241S:
Someone subsequently asked a question of the seller and he openly replied:
Q: Is this the original band and what size wrist will it adjust to fit? A: It is not the original band and is on the small end. However most watch bands of the proper width will fit it.

Now I'll be the first to admit that I don't own a single Seiko 7A48, and I don't know enough about them to spout forth .... But I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I think that this is a wrong un' - or at least it's on the wrong bracelet. http://www.eBay.co.uk/itm/320966761959 Very Nice Mens Vintage SEIKO QUARTZ Moon Phase Chronograph Watch 7A48-702A [A1]

The doubt in my mind is the usual question - is it the CORRECT ORIGINAL BAND for a 7A48-702A ?? Most 7A48-702A's that I can remember seeing before have been on leather straps - usually dark brown or black. There's something wrong, to my eye, with that gold-tone bracelet - it looks just a little bit too thin for the watch head / lugs. Here's a screen print of the 7A48-702A SPV012J variations:
Checking the individual parts list for the J1, J4, J8 and J9 variants, they call up LEATHER BAND(s), Seiko p/n's BPJ05G and WPJ07G. The problem is that there is no band (leather or bracelet) of any kind called up in the J0 version parts list. Is this watch a SPV012J0 ? I don't think so. Take a close look at the eBay seller's last photo. The numbers stamped into the bracelet link tubes and end piece ears is Z1230. The bracelet is gold plated, so the part number will be Z1230G. Doing a reverse look-up (where used) on Seiko's database for p/n Z1230G gives you another gold tone quartz watch - 8C23-6010. There was one for sale (going cheap) on UhrForum, last year: http://uhrforum.de/seiko-sq-8c23-6010-a-t73907
As you can see it suits that watch rather better. What I suspect may have happened is that the watch's original owner went to his local Seiko dealer, and asked if they could sell him a 7A48-702A on a matching gold-tone bracelet, instead of the usual leather strap. The dealer whipped the bracelet off a 8C23-6010, and fitted it for him. They're both 18mm lug width fitting. So the bracelet may well be 'original to this watch'. But not 'correct' for a 7A48-702A. Unless someone can tell me different, that is.

Yet another 'less than perfectly described' offering from Filipiono watch-botcher 'JFM_watches' (a.k.a. Nippontime / Restoredwatches): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251147822435 COLLECTORS SEIKO 7A38 701A SPEEDMASTER CHRONOGRAPH MENS WATCH $1
The description includes: Bracelet: Seiko stainless steel band, watch will fit a 7 3/4 inch wrist. Although the seller doesn't use the word 'original', I thought it worth pointing out that (although it may look like one, to the unwary) the band fitted isn't the original Seiko p/n Z1118S bracelet - it isn't even a genuine Seiko bracelet. It's one of those cheap and nasty Feiko after-market repro' bracelets you can buy on eBay from the likes of Mountapo_Merchant for $9.99. Here's the one which Edmar sells:
They come with at least 3 different versions of 'SEIKO' clasp logos, some are stamped; some embossed, but the common denominator is that none of these bracelets have a Seiko part number stamped into the underside of the spring bar tube. Caveat Emptor - Semper.

Why ever did I start this topic, and make a 'rod for my own back' in maintaining it ? And yet another. This is getting rather boring. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140853026853 Seiko vintage mens chronograph
gents 7a28 chronograph with gold dial &blue/red bezel [pepsi] the watch is in good condition for its age light marks to the case & blet. the dial-bezel-glass are all unmarked. the blet will fit up to 23 cms these watches are rare in this condition you will not be disapointed. No mention that the 'blet' is not original to this 7A28-7030. Looking at the 'hinges' between the links, presuming it's a genuine Seiko bracelet, without knowing the actual part number stamped into the end links, it could be off any number of other 7Axx models, including 7A28-7040 / -7049, 7A28-7050 or 7A38-7070. Your guess is as good as mine. Or possibly not.

Another pretty obvious one, listed on eBay Germany, earlier this week: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251158385482 Seiko Chronograph
SEIKO Sport 100 Herren Chronograph, Sammlerstück aus den 80er Jahren, Farbkombination Gold/Silber, schönes Design. Zustand: Gut. No PayPal !! Non-original bracelet (badly) fitted on a common-or-garden 7A38-702A - Nein Danke !!

Don't you just love those 'Good ole boy' / 'Mom and Pop' listings you come across on eBay in the States sometimes ? You know, the ones with fancy borders, bold multi-color print and / or including images of totally un-related tat - like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120994073188 Rare Seiko chronograph watch Mar. of 1975 watch 7A38 7069 735159 [A6] workin'

Note: I have folks in Japan and Australia that their items now arrive in 1/2 the time. What Steve and Renee fail to point out is that their very tatty example of the common-or-garden 7A38-7069 is on the wrong bracelet. For starters, the top and bottom curved end pieces appear to be different to each other, and neither of them looks anything like right. Nor are they stamped with any part numbers in the 'ears' underneath. The correct Seiko parts would be stamped Z1162 E, like this:
The bracelet does resemble the correct Seiko p/n Z1162C, in that it has gold-plated centre links , and a gold-plated SQ clasp, but .... Here's a couple of really old photos I saved off the old Network54 SCWF, years ago - to show you what it should actually look like:
Note the profile of the outer link sections.

Yes, Andre. I suspect we've all seen it - but this thread is meant for pointing out 7Axx's where the seller fails to disclose a non-original bracelet. Hence the title: Yet another 7Axx on an undisclosed non-original bracelet .... If you read the description of that 7A38-6020, it clearly states: not original s/s strap, it can fit 7.5 inches maximum .... Another much worse example, which does deserve to be flagged up, is this horrible mess of a two-tone 7A38-7020 on eBay Germany: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190733900590 SEIKO - Sports 100 - Herren - Chronograph (Men's Watch) mit Tag/Datumsanzeige
Note the seller's incorrect inclusion in the description (amongst others) .... Uhrband: das getragene original Uhrband.

Here's yet another example, a stainless 7A38-7020, which deserves to be in at least one other thread (by dint of its optimistic pricing): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/itm/180989121290 SEIKO FLIGHTMASTER SPORTS 100 Chronograph watch 7A38-7020 official timer RARE
PLEASE READ BELOW CLEARLY before BIDDING or BUY IT NOW!!!

Despiite giving all that (not entirely correct) information in his description, the seller markhitcommysinablogcom fails to mention .... That at least 160mm of the 200mm 'Total long of the length' is made up of a non-original Stelux bracelet. Stelux were one of Seiko's approved sub-contracted bracelet manufacturers and suppliers, so their quality is excellent, but .... It's not the original Seiko p/n B1171S which should be fitted to this watch - I've posted a few photos of that on the previous page. Look at the end link joining tubes of the Stelux bracelet fitted. It's clearly been cut / filed down to fit the case's 10mm lug gap.

Jeez - and yet another 7A38 on a wrong bracelet ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330805235449 Seiko Chronograph 7A38-7120 (actually it's a 7A38-7270, per the seller's description)
Not quite sure what that two-tone bracelet properly belongs on - it looks similar to that which you'd find on a 7A48-7000 / -7009. If anybody is any doubt as to what the correct p/n B1615S bracelet on a stainless 7A38-7270 should look like, here's a few of mine:
