Not every watch in my collection is in pristine condition - some sadly a long way from it, like this beaten-up Orient J39725-70.

This afternoon - a little later than planned, for the very first time I'm wearing its blingy cousin - the Breitling-esque Racer J39027-70.

Today I'm wearing a '7A38' that rarely gets any wrist time - shame really, because it deserves more. Junghans High Tech 24/4610

This afternoon, I delved into the deep dark recesses of my 7A38 'Diver's collection box and dug out this beater 7A38-6060 SAA071J.

I haven't worn it since I bought the second, far better condition example back in September 2012. At that time, I'd earmarked this watch as one duplicate I needed to sell, but couldn't bring myself to put it back on eBay with such a badly scratched crystal. (The dial printing is actually perfect.) The original Seiko p/n 300WF2FK01 is obsolete and NLA. It's also a bit of an oddball - 30.0mm Ø x 3.5mm thick :o and slightly domed. Good news though: I think I may have sussed out a substitute replacement crystal. Gonna order one next week. ;)

With my recent acquisition of an almost mint 7A38-704C, I needed to make some room in the collection box which contains my various Sports / Divers 7A38 models. So this watch, which had really only ever been a 'placeholder' vacated its slot. Yes this is a 7A38-704C, which should have orange hands and dial printing and grey plastic top pusher buttons, but the orange pigments were so badly faded to almost exactly the same yellow colour as a 7A38-704B, that I fitted a spare NOS yellow pusher button. Unfortunately I only had one.

Another from that Sports / Diver's collection box today - a 7A38-7070 SAA031J (with the early style 'polished edge' hands):

Yeh - I know it's not actually 1:50pm yet. :P But seeing as there was a brief sunny spell this lunchtime, I took advantage of the light. 8)

The hands is news to me, thanks for the info. Stunning watch, Paul.

Thanks, Julio. ;)

But it shouldn't be 'news' to anyone:

I so presumed, Paul. But no surprise I may miss a post or two... 8) Additionally I am doing my very best not to feel tempted.

As you have surely noticed, I am "keeping the keepers", and trying to avoid temptations. Hard task indeed.

Wrinkles and all. :P

The shot Achim is refering to (that I like) is a 'jeans pocket' wrist shot of his 7A38-7000 that he posted on UhrForum.de way back.

I can't easily find his original post again, so I've got Achim's photo hosted in my Photobucket, for ease of linking. Nice shot, huh ? :)

Thank you, guys. :)

By the way, in contrast to the the old shot Paul is referring to (which was done by my wife), I´ve done the picture above by myself.

It takes several attempts, but it works.

O.K. a bit predictable of me, I concede Julio, but this was the wrist shot I had planned to take today (before we had our little exchange about hands). ;) My other 7A38-7070 SAA031J - the other 'legit' one with the later production version's narrow white painted hands.

I really like this one Arpad :D

Its been on my nagging list of "do I really want one?" for ages. I keep an eye out for one but the couple that have been repeatedly listed on ebay are just too much for the condition they're in.

I think I'm drawn to the red hands.

Here is my latest 7A38-7060 with a new crystal and a comfortable cloth strap.

Sorry for the deplorable light, it's raining!  8)

You have NO idea, Paul !!

For the last couple of days I've been wearing this - my third modded 'Franken' 7A38-7070, but the weather / light has been so crappy,

I just simply didn't bother trying to take any photos. :( This is one I quickly rattled off this morning to make up for the last two days.
