Perhaps I should consider adding 'OLX' to 'eBay, LeBonCoin and Yahoo.jp' in this thread's title. :/

OLX (short for online exchange) is a local free online classified site which seems to be gaining increasing popularity in countries where there's no dedicated eBay domain. Most of their new sites have sprung up earlier this year. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLX

You may remember on the previous page I'd found a 38mm 'reduced' Yema Spationaute III on the Portuguese OLX site.

Bearing this fact in mind, yesterday evening, I ran a couple of quick searches on 'Yema' on the Far East OLX sites.

A couple turned up in Indonesia, traditional home of the 'Jam blogspot' seller but the photos are of variable quality.

A dressy N81W53 - asking 760 Indonesian Rupiah:

http://www.olx.co.id/iklan/69414014.html

Jam Tangan Jadul - Yema Paris

A 'dressy' N81W63 - asking 1500 Indonesian Rupiah:

http://www.olx.co.id/iklan/69732899.html

Arloji Yema Original Limited Edition

A 'reduced' N80A696 Spationaute III, again asking 760 Indonesian Rupiah:

http://www.olx.co.id/iklan/68608263.html

Jam Yema Spationaute Iii Chronograph Original

Apart from the strap having been replaced with one of 'pretty good quality' as stated in the seller's description ....

Note also that the pushers appear to be devoid of their gold plating and the screw-down crown fitted is a non-original replacement.

But it was this rather misleading listing for a 'New in Box' 43mm Spationaute III on the OLX Thailand site which grabbed my attention. :o

(Note the format of OLX listings varies considerably between sites):

http://www.olx.co.th/product-7751939/

YEMA Mens SPATIONAUTE III

The asking price of 4500 Thai Baht is equivalent to only $139 USD / £85.60 GBP, but this watch is certainly not 'New in Box'  ....

not as it left the Yema factory 20-odd years ago. You don't need to study the seller's photos too closely to spot the following:

There's a sliver of lume missing from the minute hand and a chunk missing from the bezel's 3 o'clock marker.

The side-on view gives the impression that the original crystal has been replaced (from the over-sized polished bevel).

The screw-down crown fitted is a non-original replacement and a 24mm strap has been squeezed to fit the 22mm lug width.

That all said, I could almost be tempted myself - as a restoration project, except that if you click on the seller's other items ....

they're clearly a dealer in used watches. Makes you wonder what else might have been done to this watch besides. :/

Does the 'With Special Seiko 7A38 Movement' imply that the original Shimauchi V906 branded movement has been replaced ?

Indeed one of the pull downs to the left of the description (กดดู line ID) advises caution:

Warning !! Do not transfer money or deposit Buyers - Sellers should arrange to meet. And inspect the goods before payment. Checking account fraud here!

On a lighter note. Don't even think about running a search on Yema on the Philippines OLX site. :P

Not unless you want to wade through literally hundreds of listings for sticky egg-yolk based deserts - Yema is a Filipino delicacy.

I had previously seen this same strap retro-fitted by French Yema Spationaute III owners.

In fact, when I checked my photo folder, most of those 'double jonc' style straps I'd remembered seeing were actually the shark version

.... apart from this one:

If it wasn't for their slight differences in dial printing (no PARIS), it could almost be the same watch.

This one belongs to 'Jecko' (Jean-Christophe) - the author of: http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/t19752-la-saga-yema-spationaute

I sometimes feel a tinge of sadness when I see other collectors offering their watches for sale. If I'm not mistaken, the seller 'Yema' on LeBonCoin.fr is the same person 'Jecko' (Jean-Christophe) of Forum à Montres, who wrote so much about the history of Spationautes.

Yema Spationaute III NOS

Description :

Très belle Yema Spationaute III NOS

Bracelet bleu neuf

Cette Montre n'est pas un contrefaçon.

Instantly recognisable (to me) by that 'double jonc' ZRC leather strap - and not exactly in NOS condition. Méchant, Jecko.

Speaking of instantly recognisable Yema N8's, I notice from my eBay watching page that the ex-Badingski ex-Timely_Classic Flygraf, discussed on the previous page (and prior to that on page 3 of this thread and elsewhere) sold yesterday against a best offer:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121442723373

The seller had paid Timely_Classic £420 for this extremely rough ex-filipino Flygraf in January 2013. I did message him to confirm it was the same watch. Originally he'd listed it with a risible B-I-N price of £495, but after our exchange of messages, he immediately dropped the price to £395 - then two days later added this line to the description:

PLEASE NOTE I WILL BE ON HOLIDAY BETWEEN 2ND OCTOBER AND 11TH OCTOBER.

I WILL DEAL WITH ANY QUESTIONS ON MY RETURN. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

Presumably someone made an offer on it while he was away on holiday and he gratefully or grudgingly accepted it on his return.

Unfortunately Goofbid's eBay Best Offer History tool hasn't picked it up, so I guess we'll never know how much the buyer paid. :/

Belated Edit: Or perhaps we will. :)

Seems that 'Best Offer' must have fallen through, because the seller subsequently re-listed it - sold for £195 as a B-I-N later today.

Parfait etat.

telephonez avant 19 heure au 06 51 51 51 07

possibilité d'echange contre autre chose, par exemple un iphone ou samsung ou velo ville ou autre chose de petite taille, pas encombrant.

Not so sure about the impeccable / perfect condition claimed by the seller. Zooming in on his first two (upside-down) photos:

The bezel has plenty of small nicks around its inner edge; the (hacked) crown appears to be missing its cabouchon and the strap looks like a 20mm squeezed to fit the 19mm lug width. I suspect that one will be re-listed a good few times over the coming months.

Re-Listed on LeBonCoin this afternoon - price reduced to 149 Euros. Still expensive, given the apparent less-than-perfect condition.

Re-Listed again on LeBonCoin yesterday evening - price now further reduced to 129 Euros:

http://www.leboncoin.fr/montres_bijoux/647754380.htm?ca=1_s

Re-Listed once again on LeBonCoin yesterday evening - price further reduced to 99 Euros:

Back on LeBonCoin again this morning - same price, same (re)listing.

Here's another fairly grotty Yema Spationaute III listed recently by one of the multitude of Indonesian blogspot sellers ....

This time another 38mm 'reduced' model N80A696 - which going by the state of the dial has suffered from moisture ingress. :(

http://salejam.blogspot.com/2014/10/yema-spattonaute-iii-chrono-quartz.html

YEMA SPATIONAUTE III Chrono Quartz

YEMA SPATIONAUTE III Chronograph Quartz

MADE IN FRANCE

" Yema Spationaute III commemorates a Franco-Russian space mission 'Aragatz' of December 1988. During the mission, French astronaut Jean-Loup Chretien made an EVA lasting 5 hours 57 minutes. The case-back of Spationaute III's are engraved 'Aragatz', 'vol longue duree and 'C.C.C.P. FRANCE'. There are two sizes of Spationaute III: this, the larger 43mm O, and a smaller 38mm O version.."

Harga :900.000,-

That said, the asking price of 900,000 Indonesian Rupiah equates to only £46 GBP / $75 USD. Depends how bad you really want one.

Here's a Yema N81W63 listed on eBay in the States that I'd somehow managed to miss over the last couple of days:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281423172544

You are bidding on --- YEMA Gold Plated Stainless Wristwatch w/ (3) Subsidiary Dials & Lizard Band

Beautiful YEMA wristwatch made in Paris, France. A Gold Tone, Stainless Steel watch with black Roman numerals, sweep second hand, three subsidiary dials, day and date box, tachymeter, quartz movement (Believed to be kinetic but I could be wrong about this as I am not an expert on watches), water resistant tested up to 50m, serial #1469 YEMA N81W63 Paris, with black Genuine Lizard Speidel band marked 19 (Band made in Mexico). Includes red box shown in pictures, perfect for giving the watch as a gift. Box has some minor imperfections as shown in pictures. Watch has no damage to the face or crystal of the watch. Back plate of the watch has some scratching but watch remains in great, never worn condition. Perfect for yourself or as a gift, this gorgeous YEMA watch is sure to draw the attention and compliments of many.

'Believed to be Kinetic' ....  Clearly no kind of expert.

That classic gaffe apart, the speculative $200 opening bid price should see this one re-listed over a few times in the coming months.

As indeed it was: about half a dozen times, by my reckoning. At some point - I haven't bothered checking back through the re-listings, the seller must must have changed the listing format from auction to a Buy-it-Now, with Make Best Offer, because yesterday it sold.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271638974462

From what I can deduce from Goofbid's Best Offer History tool - which I don't entirely trust, it looks like it finally went for $145.

This post probably better belongs in the eBay Craziest Prices thread.

Spotted this 38mm Yema Spationaute III listed yesterday by a French eBay seller, with a ludicrous B-I-N asking price of 1499 Euros. :o

http://www.eBay.co.uk/itm/261453150023

Anyway, I just happened to click on the link to the listing in the eBay message to see that they've since reduced the price slightly !

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261453150023

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDetails&item=261453150023

Note also that the photo has been changed to the 'head on' shot used in the original 1placevendome eBay listing of 4 years ago. ;)

If they knocked another 550 Euros off the new ridiculous asking price, bringing it down to 399 Euros, they'd be getting a bit closer.

This 38mm white-dialed Yema Spationaute III N80A696 is still 'doing the rounds', by the way - still being re-listed fairly regularly.

The listing title has been amended slightly and for some reason the eBay hosted image has shrunk - but then so has the price.

Last time I'd looked at the previous then current re-listing, the opening bid price had been reduced to 'only' 768 Euros.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231285230275

This afternoon, I was scrolling through my eBay watching page when I happened to notice the current 10-day re-listing (of which there are still 3 days to run) had been revised on 31st July  - the opening bid price reduced by another 300 Euros down to 'only' 468 Euros:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231292866538

I suspect these reductions may have been prompted by that other Yema Spationaute III N80A696 selling for 200 Euros in July.

The very same 38mm Yema Spationaute III, serial no. 2 270 was also first listed on eBay in November 2009 by 1placevendome.

Maybe we'll get there eventually and the watch finds a buyer at a sensible price. Let's just hope it doesn't take another 5 years.

5 years on from when it was first listed on eBay - I was wondering when this would make another re-appearance.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231386115010

Note from the seller's description, which I'm not bothering to copy and paste, that once again this is N80A696 serial number 2 - 270.

If you want to understand the shenanigans surrounding this watch (which, despite using the same photos, wasn't the one previously sold by this dealer) go back to the bottom of the previous page (11) and read the complete sequence of posts dated 3rd August.

Spotted another laughably over-priced Yema Spationaute III 38mm 'reduced' N80A696, fitted with a hideously ill-matched TAG Heuer style after-market bracelet, listed on LeBonCoin this morning. Unusually small photos - even for LBC. Probably just as well.

Speaking of French eBay sellers and their laughably over-optimistic asking prices, earlier this evening, I spotted this ....

Yema N81W53 listed by one with zero feedback, apparently a good command of English - and absolutely no idea of their value.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281500830710

RETAIL VALUE $ 500.00 if available, rare!

If you are looking for a high quality watch that is a true statement piece, this is the watch for you. Yema features movements by the Seiko. This quartz timepiece is known for quality workmanship, accurate timekeeping, and modern style! Water resistant to 50 meters, with lots of features! If you want a reliable watch for everyday, you can’t go wrong! Black leather band, 39 MM x 11MM with many working functions. There is no box or paperwork accompany the watch. This is an estate piece, probably from 2010-2012. It does show slight signs of wear typical of a gently used watch. No tears, discoloration, or defect in the leather band. No scratches on the crystal and dial features large Roman numerical. Must have for the watch collection.

I say 'apparently', because if you google (any part) of the description, you can see where he copied it from (almost verbatim):

http://www.buggysgoneshopping.com/Pages/Watches.aspx

Remember Buggy's Yema N81W53 ? :| If not, scroll back to page 6 where the saga begins almost exactly a year ago. ;)

Another typically stupidly over-priced Yema Spationaute III (using the same borrowed stock image) appeared on LeBonCoin yesterday evening. It's very likely connected with this incoming google search that I spotted (time 4:28 shown on Clicky stats is US not European):

In hindsight, it's a pity our Parisian visitor didn't arrive at this thread, rather than the one he did. :/

It might have given him a better insight into actual (read realistic) selling prices for these watches.

Note also the usual B/S about the titanium case, etc. (copied verbatim from the old Yema website).

Not that I'm in the habit of perusing French dating websites you understand.

I belatedly stumbled across this expired advert from the end of last year, purely and simply by searching on Google - honestly.

As you can see in the description the seller wasn't prepared to accept any offers below 500 Euros - so nothing unusual there.

What is slightly unusual about this example is that it has the early production mission flags dial - the third one I've seen recently.

So perhaps they're not quite as rare as I'd first imagined. :/

The same advert came up in my google searches on two other French dating websites incidentally:

Well going by the postal code 75017 (and 17th Arrondissement) .... I now reckon they could both be the same person. ;)
This Yema Spationaute III 'cadran drapeaux' was listed on LeBonCoin earlier this evening - also priced @ 500 Euros.

Although the LeBonCoin description is slightly different from last November's listing by 'mano', it's the fact that the seller is re-using the same 'stock image' (originally lifted from the 'Historique' section of the old Yema website), besides one of the actual watch for sale, that his price of 500 Euros is 'non-negotiable' and the name given this time is 'bailly', which helped me make the connection between these 3 listings. The name of the other would-be seller who advertised his Spationaute III 'cadran drapeaux' on those dating websites was ....

Jean-Claude Bailly8)

I remember well, because I traded a couple of emails with this deluded would-be seller. Hence my subsequent post on page 9:

I did actually make contact with the seller. Not only wouldn't he budge on his pie-in-the-sky asking price of 500 Euros ....

Quote: The watch YEMA ARAGATZ is not sold yet because this watch is to be payed with Euros (500) in Paris where I live.

But the only way he'd sell it was by a face-to-face meeting in Paris (that's when he's actually there) - for cash. Dream on.

Translating the relevant parts of the current LeBonCoin advert's description, it appears he's still as intransigent as ever:

Only by phone 06 79 09 39 63 between 10H-2200hrs and I will not respond to texts or to emails.

Price not negotiable. To collect on site in the 17th (arrondissement). Payment in hard cash to the exclusion of all other means.

I suspect he'll be re-listing it again another 12 months time. Hopefully he'll have got round to having the battery replaced by then.

And another case of Déjà vu.

Listed on eBay France earlier this morning - presumably this is 'Jecko's Yema Spationaute III. See my post above dated October 13th.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131362288526

Collector Modèle Yema SPANIONAUTE III.

Montre dans un état quasi neuf

Ignore the primary image, because it's another 'stock photo' of a different watch (note the full complement of dial printing) lifted from Harry Bishop's Yema blog article. However the other 3 small photos are the same as Jecko used in his LeBonCoin listing in October.

After I'd posted that I had doubts - for a couple of reasons, notably the eBay user ID and the seller's stated location of 'Saint Cloud'.

So I sent the seller a quick message via eBay, asking if they were 'Jecko'. I made no mention of the discrepancy in listing photos.

They just replied a few minutes ago, very briefly saying: Bjr Ni Jecko Ni contrefacon. c'est ma montre.

You'll notice the seller has since amended their listing by changing the primary image:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDetails&item=131362288526

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131362288526

The other reason I knew it couldn't be Jean-Christophe was the incorrect spelling of SPANIONAUTE in the listing description.

Something still smells not quite right though.

Here's a Yema N8 0P896 'Pseudo Plongeur' which was listed on Yahoo Japan auctions at the weekend.

Dunno how I managed to miss it before, because unusually for YJ, the listing title is all written in English.

http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e151102446

No bids placed on it so far, after 2 days, so this could end up being a bargain buy for someone at the opening bid price of 5000 Yen.

That Yema N80P896 on YJ did turn out to be a bargain buy for someone - sold earlier today for the 5000 Yen opening bid price.

That's if it ever genuinely was available.

It's back again.

Re-listed early this morning as a low start (1 Euro), but private listing - bidders' identities protected auction. Caveat Emptor.
