Sunday afternoon seems to be a favourite time for listing items on LebonCoin.fr. So I just had a quick looksee and what should be the first item at the top of my search result ? Yet another optimistically over-priced Yema Spationaute III. Maybe it's one we've seen before:

I guess it depends on your view of a tolerable level of scratches (and acceptable level of polishing).

This Yema N71Z36 America's Cup on a patriotic NATO (which I find less palatable) was listed overnight by a Filipino eBay seller:

I'm still kicking myself for not bidding on the Yema Spationaute III on Ebay US back in November 2013. It was NOS and sold for $235.00 US  :(  I had just started to collect 7A's and did not know how scarce this French watch was.

Then perhaps you might like to consider bidding on this one, Don. :D

Especially as (in US terms) it's only 'a few hours' drive away - might make it worth a cruise in Mr. B (all the way) down PCH. :P

Listed overnight by uconsignit - with only the N80P76 model # in the title. Almost in NOS condition, apart from the case-back.

Gentleman's Spationaute III quartz chronograph wristwatch from Yema, Paris

Model N80P76. Quartz movement, stainless case with stainless steel back.

New, with tags.

Sale includes Yema Paris rosewood box, approx 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches; and chipboard gift box (the outer box is mildly shelfworn.

This auction has NO RESERVE, so bid now to ensure that you will be in the running to win this item.

Be sure to look at our other auctions by clicking on the link below

Naturally, as I have a well-known predeliction for collecting Spationaute III's  you may have to fight me for it.

Only because I don't have this particular variation of the US market outer cardboard box with the SPATIONATE III label.

That eBay auction for the NOS Yema Spationaute III ended a few moments ago @ $280 (approx. £165) after 20 bids by 9 bidders.

I noticed Gilles had re-listed his Yema Spationaute III on LeBonCoin yet again, earlier this evening, with another different set of photos.

Bearing in mind he'd previously been asking 450 and 340 Euros, and was now open to offers, I thought I'd ask the question ....

i.e. What figure exactly did Gilles consider a fair offer. :/ So I sent him an email via LeBonCoin. He just replied:

Bonjour,

Cdt

Gilles

I think it's about time I put him straight.

Well, having traded a couple of emails with Gilles (pointing out a few recently sold examples), he seems to have come around:

Bonjour à nouveau

Ok pour 150 euros avec 10 euros supplémentaires si envoi.

Merci de me donner votre position.

Cdt

If anybody is interested and wants his direct email address, drop me a PM. ;)

Because, much as I love 'em - I really don't need another 43mm Spationaute III.

Another laughably over-priced Yema Spationaute III listed on eBay this evening - which better belongs in the Craziest Prices thread.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171350732183

The would-be seller's description looks like it has been hashed up from a number of sources (not all correct for this watch).

The latter part, in smaller type, in both English and French (which I haven't bothered posting) is copied from one of izeldor's listings.

FROM ESTATE RARE YEMA SPATIONAUTE III

FRENCH WATCH .

THIS IS A RARE COLLECTIBLE WATCH IN NEAR MINT/MINT CONDITION, BEAUTIFUL BLUE DIAL. PLEASE WATCH THE PICTURES FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS AND CONDITION OF THE WATCH. WATCH IS WORKING GREAT AND KEEPS GOOD TIME, ALL THE FUNCTIONS WORK AS THEY SHOULD.

WATCH MEASURES 50 MM. FROM LUG TO LUG BY 43 MM. WIDE CROWN IS NOT INCLUDED IN MY MEASUREMENTS.

THIS WATCH HAS A BEAUTIFUL WHITE DIAL WITH GOLD HANDS AND HOURS, AS SEEN IN MY PICTURES.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS PRIOR TO YOUR BID AND I'LL ANSWER ASAP.

Makes you wonder if total incompetents like this bunch ever bother proof-reading the drivel they churn out.

Pity really because it looks a reasonably tidy example.

Despite his lacklustre listing, it looks like US eBay seller artnoveauseller got extremely lucky and found himself a 'mug punter' buyer.

That Yema Spationaute III sold overnight against a Best Offer:

According to Goofbid's eBay Best Offer History Tool, the offer he accepted was for a cool round $500 ! :o

As I'd suspected, that Yema N71Z36 America's Cup was almost bound to re-surface, offered by some would-be profiteering re-seller.

It didn't take very long:

^^^

you beat me to it Paul!

in the mean time he has already refused 2 offers and probably very clever has omitted to include pictures of the back.

Still the missing lume on the hour hand and the "Bleu blanc rouge" strap rang a bell so I came back here to check...

Pity, wont have my offer

Dirk

Not so sure about the impeccable / perfect condition claimed by the seller. Zooming in on his first two (upside-down) photos:

The bezel has plenty of small nicks around its inner edge; the (hacked) crown appears to be missing its cabouchon and the strap looks like a 20mm squeezed to fit the 19mm lug width. I suspect that one will be re-listed a good few times over the coming months.

Re-Listed on LeBonCoin this afternoon - price reduced to 149 Euros. Still expensive, given the apparent less-than-perfect condition.

Re-Listed again on LeBonCoin yesterday evening - price now further reduced to 129 Euros:

Shock, Horror !  I've just bought a watch fitted with a NATO strap !

Or more correctly, I should say, Japanese forum member Daisuke has kindly just purchased it on my behalf.

If you've followed this thread, you may remember this post I made at the top of page 6 in September last year .....

Just spotted these 3 Yema N8's listed on Yahoo Japan at the weekend, by the rather inappropriately named seller kamikazegirls7:

Top to bottom:

N8 0P896 'Pseudo Plongeur'   http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k164180838 (original Yema hands, but missing lume)

N8 0A66 Spationaute III - 38mm  http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f126723094 (non-original hands off a 7A28-7100 ?)

N8 0P76 Spationaute III - 43mm  http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/176972951 (original Yema hands, but look tarnished)

Apart from the hands, the 38mm Spationaute III also has a day / date quickset problem. Oh Yes - and all three are on NATO straps.

This line of description, which appears in each listing made me chuckle.

少しでも不安を感じられた方は当方の商品には入札しないようお願いします。

And therefore you should not bid on our product to the person who was worried about even a little.

They'd been re-listed over and over numerous times; the 43mm Spationaute III and the N8 OP896 'Pseudo Plonguer' eventually sold,

.... leaving the 38mm 'reduced' Spationaute III model # N8 0A66.

That was re-listed again last weekend, with the opening bid price reduced slightly to 9000 Yen (equivalent to £52 GBP / $88 USD).

http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h188138790

◆YEMA(FRANCE) 古いクオーツクロノグラフ SPATHIONAUTE III *

I asked Daisuke to bid on it for me, which he did with perfect timing - as close as you can get to a snipe on Yahoo Japan. ;)

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet. As my existing 38mm 'reduced' N80A66 has issues, I may use this for parts, to make a better one out of two. But as I now have a spare set of Spationaute III hands to play with, I could make this a good 'un in its own right.

It's been a little while since I've seen a Yema N8 listed on eBay (anywhere), let alone one where it was correctly described as a '7A38'.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321455098135

Up for sale is an older Yema N8 gold plated chronograph. This was made while Yema was under (partial?) Seiko ownership, and as such, used their 7A38 chronograph module. I bought it years ago a store display on Yahoo Japan auctions. It does have light scratches around the bezel along with some tarnishing near the chrono pushers and lugs. Also a few scratches on the caseback. Strap has some light wear from being stored in the original box. Crystal appears clear. The diameter of the watch is ~34mm. Thickness is about 9mm. Battery is running low as the second hand jumps to every other marker. Chrono works, though I seems to recall occasional sticking/resetting at the 58 min. Basically, assume it needs a servicing :). Comes with the original inner (broken hinge) and outer box. Thanks for looking!

It's a pity the seller didn't bother to mention the actual Yema model number in his description, but as you can see from the case-back, its a N81W43. He did indeed buy it on Yahoo Japan - back in September 2010. Here's the three photos from the original YJ listing:

I suspect, if truth be known, the seller probably got the '7A38' connection from the original Yahoo Japan auction where he bought it:

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m81038023

SEIKO 7A38 ★ YEMA メンズウォッチ N81W43

Opening bid price was a reasonable ¥8,900 Yen - equivalent to about £75.

My memory's not that good. :P That's what I wrote in the Yahoo Japan Auctions - Watching Watches thread on RLT at the time.

Anyway, here's another 38mm 'reduced' white dialed Yema Spationaute III, model N80A696 listed on eBay earlier this evening:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/261464686831

RARE UNE ANCIENNE MONTRE YEMA SPATIONNAUTE 3 1-913 vol longue duree ARAGATZ CCCP FRANCE N80A696 diametre 3.5 CM bon etat fonctionne tres belle montre.

Fitted with a non-original two-tone bracelet - and as we've come to expect, typically well over-priced @ 500 Euros opening bid.

Seems I spoke too soon.

This 38mm 'reduced' white-dialed Yema Spationaute III N8A0696, on a non-original two-tone bracelet, which was re-listed through much of May and June, at the same 'pie-in-the-sky' 500 Euros Buy-it-Now asking price (with a couple of changes of photos) is back ....

Re-listed earlier this evening as a low-start (no reserve) auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261527220678

Unfortunately, the French seller still hasn't learned to spell Spationaute.
