So, when you finally manage to get rid of one such over-priced example from your eBay watching page, you can almost guarantee another will come along almost immediately. Right ? Which is exactly what happened yesterday morning. Another 7A38-7180, in similar worn condition was listed yesterday morning by a Danish eBay seller, with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $280 !!

The Danish eBay seller re-listed his 7A38-7180 this afternoon, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $150 (but still with the 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now option for $280, for anybody foolish enough). I'd hazard a guess it'll very likely sell for the opening bid price.

This average worn condition 7A38-7180, which is partially functional and has had the chrono' hands painted, was listed this morning, as a 3-day auction, by an Italian eBay seller with an opening bid price of 41 Euros (but with a reserve set), or the option to Buy-it-Now for 230 Euros (only if you're desperate / stupid enough).

His Italian description doesn't translate particularly well, so I'm not sure whether he's including this as a spare dial / movement donor. 

The Danish eBay seller's 7-day auction for his re-listed 7A38-7180 ended about half an hour ago. Indeed, as I'd predicted, it sold for the opening bid price of $150.

The 3-day Italian eBay auction for a partially functional 7A38-7180, with painted chronograph hands, ended this morning, about half an hour ago, with the bidding only having reached 51 Euros after 5 bids - and the reserve price not met.

It should be abundantly clear to anybody who's looking for one, that there are plenty of well-worn examples out there. So from now on, I'm only going to bother posting eBay auction results - unless any exceptional examples worthy of comment turn up.

What the heck, here's yet another one. 

This well-worn 7A38-7180 was listed yesterday evening 'for spares or repairs', by a UK eBay seller, as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of £0.99. The reason I thought it worthy of comment was the seller's photos. Note how much worse the wear to the black chrome plating looks in the later photos, compared to the first three. It's simply down to the angle they were taken from / lighting.

Used Seiko watch. Watch keeps time and date change works but none of the chronograph functions work, This watch is therefore sold as spares or repairs with not returns.

In used condition showing various marks and scratches consistent with age and regular use. Plating is worn to case and bracelet. Crystal is heavily chipped.

Watch measures approx. 37mm x 11mm excluding the crown. Bracelet will fit wrists up to 180mm.

Another 7A38-7180 was listed on eBay in the early hours of this morning, by Brazilian eBay seller denguinho (formerly watches.br) as a Buy-it-Now for $229.99. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what to make of it. Compared to some of the warmed over worn out junk this seller frequently turns out, the black chrome plating appears to be in remarkably good condition. Naturally its condition is described as 'impeccable', but then their stuff always is.

I missed spotting it earlier, but just scrolling through my eBay watching page, it appears that the 7A38-7180 listed last month by Brazilian eBay seller denguinho (formerly watches.br) sold yesterday lunchtime for the $229.99 Buy-it-Now price.

It was amusing to note the famous last words of the US eBay seller's description:

The 3-day auction ended middle of last week, having been pretty obviously shill bid to a quite astonishing $321.

If you check the bidding history, the recently created Zero feedback winning bidder ID 5***4 has 100% bidding activity with the seller. So no great surprise, it was back on eBay again, less than an hour later, re-listed as a 7-day auction. Bidding on the re-listed auction has reached $46 at the time of writing.

One thought he might have seen sense and waived the reserve price, when it managed to reach 91 Euros after 11 bids, the next time around, but No  ....

I hadn't missed it - just wanted to update the other existing listings first. There was yet another average worn condition 7A38-7180, listed by a Zero-feedback UK eBay seller, at the weekend as a 7-day auction. The opening bid price is a sensible £25, but there's a reserve price set. Bit pointless if you ask me. At the time of writing, still nobody has ventured to place a bid.

Worn but well looked after 1987 Seiko Sports Chronograph with original strap in stainless steel/black. Abrasion to glass face but otherwise good working order.

The re-listed 7-day auction for a 7A38-7180 by US eBay seller sandersj85 (which was evidently blatantly shilled last time), ended in the early hours of this morning - this time theoretically selling for a slightly more down-to-earth $157.50 after 15 bids.

That said, once again, the auction was won by a recently created Zero feedback bidder - who not surprisingly also has 100% bidding activity with the seller. So I suspect we probably almost definitely haven't seen the last of it yet !

The 7-day auction for yet another 7A38-7180 in average worn condition, listed by a Zero-feedback UK eBay seller, last weekend, ended earlier this afternoon. Thanks to the efforts of one particularly determined bidder, who placed 9 of the 10 bids, the sensible reserve price of £100 was met and it sold to him.

I didn't believe for a minute that we'd seen possibly the last of it. 

Earlier this afternoon, would-be Italian eBay seller mirkstraccialan0 re-listed his 7A38-7180 (with painted chrongraph hands) once again. This time as a Buy-it-Now for 110 Euros with the option to make a lower offer. Strangely, he's truncated his previous longer listing title. This one just says 'Seiko 7a38'. The three photos are new this time. Like his latest gold-tone 7A38-7000 re-listing, he seems to have cocked up the postage calculation. This one is only 640 Euros !!

Well it looks like would-be Italian eBay seller mirkstraccialan0 managed to get his postage costs sorted out (on this one at least, if not his gold-tone 7A38-7000) and his titivated 7A38-7180 sold earlier this afternoon for the 110 Euros Buy-it-Now price (after he'd declined a few offers). Hopefully that'll be the last we've seen of it.
