I bought one of these from Japan in 2014 as I like them, I paid quite a bit less which is always nice to see. I believe they are quite rare and perhaps came out before the Vulcan (Paul would probably know this). Don't know how many were made but this is the first one I've seen on Ebay. Works out at a respectable $395 - £261 with delivery + import duties.

Looks like these are now hitting Vulcan prices  with import costs on top you're looking at £500.

I have to say this watch is my favorite by far out of all my watches, it actually gets the most wrist time and I prefer it to my Vulcan sorry Paul :P

Just over a year since one of these came up item number 262853424793 if anyone is interested. A little beaterish in my opinion but very rare

Paul tried to get me to bid on one on Japan Yahoo. I was busy and missed it--- sold for less than $ 300.  :(

Yup, these are a handsome variant.  The yellow face is the show-stopper, but the detail I appreciate the most is the "CHRONOGRAPH" printed in straight caps. The cursive Chronograph found on the majority of 7Axx faces is the only aspect of their design I'm not 100% fond of.

Straight caps = Japanese Domestic Market model - ie: JDM   ;)

Gah!  Learning to crawl in public here, aren't I!  :(

On the topic of JDM watches--and this has probably been asked a gazillion times already but damned if I'm enterprising enough to look it up--is there a ballpark figure for the end cost of using Buyee to nab a watch on the Yahoo Auction site?

I know there are variables (i.e. customs/duty and the dollar value of the winning bid), but as a rule should one expect to add, for example, $100 USD to the final auction price?

Johnny, there are others beside Buyee. I use Buyee and one item is about $ 75-85 added. But what I do is buy several items, from different sellers, (many bargans over there), and consolidate them. Buyee will hold your items free for one month.   :|

Well, Phil, if you can't be bothered to update your own topic, I guess I'll have to do it for you. :P

That 7A28-710A listed by the Japanese eBay seller ended a couple of days ago - sold against a Best Offer.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262853424793

According to Goofbid's eBay Best Offer History tool, it sold for $400 (there were a few other lower offers made).

There's thread been started about it over on SCWF by the buyer (the ill-informed poster calls it a 'Vulcan').

Phil. Sent you a PM reference 'the Goofbid thing'. ;) It really is dead simple to use. :P

I've also just updated this thread in the Member's Lounge section with another eBay tool that possibly actually works better. :)

Many thanks Paul,

For everyone, please feel free to add to this thread if you wish as I don't see every 710A that comes up (not that many do), I am biased towards this model as some of you may remember that this was the first 7a28 that I ever stripped down and serviced. After hours and hours of toiling with the dreaded main bridge I am now forever bonded to her

Regards Phil

You possibly might not have seen this one, then Phil. ;)

Check out the last sentence of the description of this 7A28-7040 currently listed on eBay by a UK seller:

I also have the much rarer Yellow Faced 7A28 SPEEDMASTER with external Tachymeter bezel in excellent condition; which I may sell / list if there is enough interest. Contact me for more details.

Crikey these are coming through thick 'n fast now. It's all about the face with these beauties; unfortunately the lume on the markers and hands plus damage to the minute subdial really lets it down. :(

^ I was just going to post this as my good deed for the month, but as usual I'm fashionably late to the party. Absolutely agree about the lume missing from the hands--it really gives dimension to the dial on healthier specimens, enough to notice its absence here. Love lume, hate its tendency to decay faster than the rest of a watch.

Lume's buggered and wrong bezel insert, tatty case and bracelet, but at least it's free postage.
