Normally I'd quite openly write about the gross incompetence and shortcomings of our Webs host in the General Discussion area, where anyone - including them can read it. I'm going to start this thread in the private Members Lounge section for now ....

Because it potentially affects forum members (only).

I got a bit of a shock this afternoon. I added a less-than-stellar wrist shot of a Spationaute III to page 47 of the WRUW thread.

Came to refresh the page and where previously had been Simon's wrist shot of his  B-team 'Ripley' atop the page, I got this:

I quickly checked a few more of Simon's posts and found the same thing. But worse still ...

Any topic which Simon had started himself (think of all his superb threads in the Workshop section) ....

.... were gone altogether. :( If you'd clicked on any links such as those two which I've outlined, you'd have got this:

I phoned Simon and gave him a somewhat panicked 'heads up'. We were both baffled. :/

Simon then tried to login to his 'Sir Alan' account and got this rather chilly error message:

I asked Simon to email Webs and copy me. Later this afternoon I added a polite but firm reply to his message, directed at Webs.

An hour later, I hadn't heard back, so impatient to get this fixed, I got onto Webs Online Support and gave them some abuse !

This is apparently yet another Webs 'glitch' that has crept out of the woodwork. Here's a thread on another Webs-hosted forum.

Earlier this evening, Simon and I received an explanation of sorts from Webs (total lack of) Support.

If you've seen one of these before - and I've seen a good few similar ones, then you'll recognize it as a 'standard message' which Webs Support operators have ready to copy and paste and send out, in a pathetic attempt to placate disgruntled users.
