With hindsight, the topic title was a bit lengthy, but reading back through it, I've only got myself to blame for that.
I continued adding occasional posts to it almost right up to the end, but it seemed the halcyon days of eBay 'bargains' had long since passed. There was (and still is) plenty of over-priced crap / junk listed on eBay to comment on though.
So I'm going to carry on where we left off, in my deliberate sarcastic manner, albeit with a slightly shorter topic title.
Literally (well almost) where I left off ....
I made this post towards the bottom of page 9 of that thread on 29th December last year:
I followed it up a few days later with the auction result:
Earlier today, a would-be profiteering UK eBay re-seller davyboy0194 listed what he claims to be a N.O.S. 7A38-7190 watch case, but without a crystal, with a Buy-it-Now price of £55:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MANS-SEIKO-Q ... 3881370266
A NEW OLD STOCK CASE FOR SEIKO 7A38 IN UNUSED CONDITION-NOT GOLD PLATED BUT CHROMED VERSION-GENUINE SEIKO
He's also listed an allegedly partially working 7A38A movement, with an all too familiar looking, water-damaged 708L dial from a stainless 7A38-7060 at the same price.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIK0-7A38A- ... 3881293504
A RUNNING MOVEMENT FROM SEIKO 7A38 THAT MAY NOT BE FULLY FUNCTIONING BEING SOLD FOR PARTS
Needless to say, if you check his photos, the well-worn / polished 7A38-7190's case-back serial number 5D0094 matches that of the Franken combination sold by the Spanish eBay seller in early January for 26 Euros.
Note the charity icons. Evidently 10% of the sale of these items will benefit World Animal Protection. The remainder of his profit ?
