Those of you who have more than 50 posts up on TZ-UK should be able to view this topic on their Sales Corner: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?277934-Charity-Auction-for-a-Seiko-Chronograph If so, then the modded 7A38-7070 in question should look rather familiar.

For those who don't have, hence can't, here's a copy and paste of most of the text and photos: Charity Auction for a Seiko Chronograph I won a Seiko day/date on a charity auction yesterday so I am happy for this one to go toward Eddie's fundraising. Auction style thread that I will close on Sunday 13th at 9.30pm. Highest bidder wins. I have had this watch for over a year which for me is a miracle. It came from the forum and I bought it as I just thought straight away that for a lower value watch it looked the business and I wasn't disappointed. From memory the bezel has been modded and the bracelet is aftermarket. I also bought it knowing that the day doesn't always change in line with the date and you will end up with the Spanish equivalent. None of this has bothered me and the watch has not let me down and keeps excellent timekeeping. Nothing in terms of wear that would polish if necessary. A great all round beater too boot.

It is, of course, the very same 7A38-7070 which kicked off this thread in the Parts Info, Tech Tips and Tinkering section: Previously owned by 'John' (a.k.a. Chris 'Service Engineer' on RLT): http://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=76054 Bought on eBay and modded by Chris Rennie (towards the bottom of the first page of our above thread) in December last year. Subsequently sold by Chris Rennie on TZ_UK Sales corner in January: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?247977-FS-Vintage-Seiko-7A38-7070-Chronograph-SOLD! Quote: With a very heavy heart, I need to let this one go. On offer I have a stunning Seiko 7A38-7070. and posted about in glowing terms by the current owner 'itsgotournameonit' the same day: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?248038-What-a-watch-for-£125-00-Seiko-content He's obviously come to his senses now, so is offering it as an auction for charity. A nice gesture, but not the best of examples.
