More likely he's realized that these 7Axx's with the 'black chrome' finish, be it matt black, chocolate brown, or as in this case dark grey, are very susceptible to abrasive wear and accidental scratching of the outer soft PVD coating - and so it's not practical to wear 'NOS' examples on a daily basis, thereby risking devaluing them. Effectively they are destined to become poor man's safe queens. This one already has a small scratch on the 'bezel' area of the case, near the crown, so technically, it's not mint any more. Perhaps he fancies (or has already bought) something else, and needs to flip this.
