For sale is a beautiful white dial Seiko 7A28-7020 Quartz Chronograph from circa 1984-85 in great working original condition having recently been serviced. The bracelet is sized to around 6.7 inches. The dial is 40mm. Anybody who knows this watch will know that this is the main watch worn by Roger Moore in A View to a Kill. Incredibly rare these days to find one in working condition. A new crystal was fitted with the service and the dial is unmarked. The case and bracelet has a few scratches that I am sure can be polished out albeit I think it adds to the charm of this 30 + year old timepiece. Comes in a white Seiko presentation case that is in mint condition. No returns.

Suitable for any budding 007 with girly sized wrists.

Some sellers make the 007 connection and attempt to cash in on it; others fail to completely.

I happened to notice this one, which was listed last week by a UK seller (who can't spell 'View'). 

For the simple reason the primary image looked so familiar. It was borrowed stolen from the listing at the top of this page.

The auction ended about half an hour ago, selling for £218 after 35 bids.

Over the last four years I've used this thread to take the mickey (sometimes quite deservedly) out of various eBay seller's efforts to hype the selling prices of their 'James Bond' 7A28-7020 SPR007J's using a variety of props and verbiage. Earlier this week a UK eBay seller listed a mint unboxed example with an opening bid price of £29.99 and no reserve as a 3-day auction listing. No background photos of Roger Moore, nor 'A View to a kill' movie posters; zero actual references to the film and no cardboard cut-out P.o.S. props. Just the words 'James Bond'. His description simply read:

You are bidding on an immaculate Vintage Seiko 7A28 7020 James Bond Chronograph Watch. This piece is in mint condition with no scratches or wear whatsoever and the best I've seen. Perfect working order and on it's original strap. A great mint condition addition to any collection. Absolutely stunning detailing and material as you'd expect. Happy bidding, people...

The auction ended late yesterday evening with the watch selling for a very strong £505 after 32 bids.

IMO, it was the pristine condition of this watch that helped it achieve this very respectable price - not the James Bond connection.

R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore (alias James Bond 007 - for most of the 1970's and 1980's), who sadly passed away yesterday aged 89.

Not my favourite Bond personally, but a fine actor nevertheless; above all a gentleman and occasional wearer of Seiko watches.

I'm not about to change the original title of this topic (out of respect, or for any other reason).

I'm not sure why you made your first post where you did, but in the greater scheme of things, $600 isn't exactly a crazy price for any Seiko 7Axx nowadays - asking or selling. Have a read through some of the preceding posts in this thread and you'll see what I mean. As you didn't respond to my PM, I've moved your post here.

But I couldn't help thinking that the price achieved (of £740) by that previous UK eBay auction was something of a fluke.  Seeing another 7A28-7020 SAA007J listed by a French eBay seller, the same day, as a 10-day auction, I added it to my watching page - purely out of curiosity. The auction just ended, selling for £480 (Pounds not Euros) after 22 bids. This result suggests it may well have been.

O.K., so I relented.  I did add a couple more 7A28-7020 'James Bond's to my eBay watching list, as further 'sanity checks'. This 7-day eBay auction, for what appeared to be a very nice example, by a Finnish seller ended early this morning, selling for $810 after 19 bids. As the previous two results were in Pounds Sterling, that converts to approx. £576.39.

I'd also added a couple of eBay auction listings by Italian eBay sellers to my watching list - in the hope that at least one of them might provide a meaningful result. I really should have known better. 

Both were 10-day auction listings, which were scheduled to end yesterday. The first, by seller akarides, who from past experience is not the most trustworthy of sellers was ended early a few days ago, because the item was no longer available, with him cancelling all bids in the process.

I remember seeing it bid to over 400 Euros, but checking the bidding history shows the cancelled bid of 400 Euros was placed by a Zero feedback bidder (presumably a shill). There was a higher bid of 650 Euros placed the day before - so what it may have sold for (off eBay) is anybody's guess. 

The other Italian eBay auction did go the full distance, ending yesterday evening, theoretically selling for 840 Euros (equivalent to approx. £732 GBP) after 61 bids.

However, if you also check the bidding history of that one, the winning bidder, who incidentally placed 21 of those 61 bids, has Zero feedback and 100% activity with that seller - so more than likely another shill bidder.  Hence another somewhat inconclusive result. 

I've now only got one eBay listing for 7A28-7020 SPR007J 'James Bond' left on my watching page (and I don't intend to watch any more after this). It was listed 5 days ago, by a UK seller as a 10-day auction with a sensible opening bid price of £450, but also a totally ludicrous 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of £1400 !!  Oddly enough, when I first saw the listing, it already had an opening bid placed, but that appears to have been cancelled, for whatever reason.

I'm Sorry, but I'll sell only to UK Buyers.

I purchased this watch brand new in 1985 from a jewellers in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. I wore the watch for several years without any problems and I only stopped wearing it when my Mother bought me a new watch for my birthday. The watch then sat in its box for many years in my wardrobe and a few weeks ago I decided to try & sell it; I went to a local jewellers and had a new high quality battery fitted and the watch now works perfectly. There are some very light signs of wear but overall, I'd say the watch is in very good condition. The watch comes with original box and all original paperwork. I didn't know until recently, but I discovered this watch was worn by Roger Moore/James Bond in A View to a Kill movie. I will send the watch special delivery, and I'm sorry, but I will only sell to UK Buyers. The watch is advertised elsewhere, so maybe removed at any time.

The above auction for a 7A28-7020 SPR007J ended at lunchtime today, selling for £495 after 5 bids. Not a bad price, but I suspect a little disappointing for the greedy seller, compared to his ludicrous 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of £1400. Still, he got no better than he deserved IMHO. Not once, but twice during the course of 10 days, he cancelled opening bids of £450, presumably to temporarily reinstate his ludicrous BIN price. I suspect that may well have deterred a few potential bidders.

I honestly hadn't intended to watch any more eBay listings for 7A28-7020 'James Bond', nor comment on their selling prices. But then I noticed the Finnish eBay seller had re-listed his, because of a non-paying bidder. When he re-listed it, he somehow managed to screw up the item location, which was shown this time as Pennsylvania, USA. (There's verbiage in the item description to that effect). The re-listed auction ended about 10 minutes ago, this time around selling for $200 less than before, despite there being double the number of bids: $610 after 39 bids. For the record, that's equivalent to approx. £428.15 in Pounds Sterling.

This latest result confirms my suspicion that the £740, achieved by another unexceptional used example a month ago, was a fluke.

How can I be certain ? Well if you check the bidding history on the above ended auction listing, you'll see the winning bidder has a feedback rating of 550 - same as rjpsales3282 current rating. Oh Yes, and there's that other small coincidence of the same £150 R.R.P. label stuck on the cover of the 7A28 user instruction manual, in exactly the same place.

As seen in ‘A View to a Kill’ from 1985, this model of watch was worn by Roger Moore. One for the collectors!

It’s in superb condition as you can see in the pics, I can’t see any marks on the crystal. It runs perfectly with all functions working as they should. The bracelet is a genuine Seiko one but not original to this watch. It comes with two spare links with pins and is currently sized for my approx 7 inch wrist.

Never fear, 007 wannabes - there's always be another James Bond. Indeed, not long after that one had sold - a matter of only about an hour and a half later, another 7A28-7020 SPR007J appeared, listed by a Spanish eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of $650 - which coincidentally according to eBay's exchange rates, happens to be almost exactly £500.

Vintage and rare Seiko chronograph 7A28-7020, model sported by James Bond in the film “A view to kill”. In very good condition, comes with original bracelet. All buttons works fine, keep good time and the chrono works great. All subdials hands works, when I push the button at 4 to activate the test mode, all the hands move, although I’m not able to reset the hands, don’t know why, thats why it look misplaced in the 3 and 9 subdials.

Seiko Vintage Quartz Chronograph 7A28-7020 Mens Watch (1983)

As worn by James Bond (Roger Moore) in the pre-title sequence to A View To A Kill (1985).

The Seiko 7A28-7020 has a white dial, three sub-dials a steel case and a steel bracelet. Notably, it was the worlds first analogue quartz chronograph.

This one for sale is in beautiful condition, and keeping perfect time. I had it serviced a couple of weeks ago and the watch maker recommended, because of its age, not submersing it in water.

To be honest, because its in such good condition, I’m a bit scared to wear it. Thus the sale.
