Seiko 7A38 - by the numbers

Something a bit topical for April Fool's Day - and to start the new month / page.

I've been wearing my scabby 'beater' stainless 7A38-7000, which I gave the rather apt pet name 'El Caracortada' - just for this morning, in anticipation of the arrival of a slightly better example. 

Big red van just pulled up outside. Knock at the front door. More later. 

Here's a couple of 'as received' shots of my newest incoming stainless 7A38-7000 SAA007J, which actually arrived as I was composing my previous post. 

Please excuse the odd bit of lint. It literally came wrapped in cotton wool.

That's a very nice looking watch though. 

Dear Paul. Please forgive me the unacceptable lapse in photographic standards. My excuse for the refections is yesterday was an unusually bright sunny day. 

Glad you liked the watch, anyway. Here's one I suspect you'll like even more, once I've sorted it. I received another delivery this morning (quicker than I'd expected) - from Japan. My latest incoming - a JDM 7A38-6040 SJS038. 

It'll fill a gap in my collection that's existed for too long. Over the last 6 years, I've looked at (and missed buying) numerous examples in far better condition - often for being unwilling to pay the prices. Thinking I might never get one, I asked Japanese forum member Daisuke to bid (on my behalf) on the penultimate Yahoo Japan auction. As always, he kindly obliged. This time we won. Though before he re-packed it, Daisuke emailed me saying it was 'completely junk'. I think that was possibly a little harsh.  Once fitted with a new battery, given a little persuasion, it runs - and the bracelet comfortably fits my wrist on the last pair of clasp adjustment holes. So it's a start; I've finally got one - even if it needs a little TLC. 

Wearing my restored 'beater' 7A38-7070 (fitted with Yobokies repro' bezel insert) this dull overcast morning.

Swapped that for my subtly modded 7A38-7070 with the all black 709L dial this afternoon. 

Friday the 13th.  Wearing my black chrome JDM 7A38-6030 SJS028.

Something a bit topical on this sunny Saturday afternoon: my second string 'beater' 7A38-6060 SAA073J on a Seiko shark grain swim-proof leather strap.

Here is a watch you don't see very often    A YEMA  N7  -Seiko 7a28-  America's Cup France       Thanks to Paul for finding it!       

Quick try on of my most recently acquired 'NOS' Yema N8 Flygraf.

Wearing this almost 'NOS' condition Yema Spationaute III, fitted with a non-original REWA 'Rally' strap this morning. It's a poignant reminder of someone that I once considered a friend. 

Stainless 7A38-7020 SAA009J 'beater' this morning.

In under the wire on the 19th with this "Sample" case and band  7A38-702H.  I see that the sweep looks bent       The case is NOS but the mvt us used.            

Just quicky trying on this almost mint 7A38-6000 SAA039J - another one that will soon need a replacement battery - it's doing the 'two second tick'. 

Swapped that for my other 'Dinky Diver' 7A38-6000 this afternoon. So much more comfortable to wear on its non-original vintage Seiko 'Beads of Rice' bracelet. 

Something plain and simple for a change. Stainless 7A38-7280 SAA119J.

7A28-7050 for me today:

A quick 'as received' shot of my newest incoming arrival, another variation of the RACER branded Orient J39024-50, which the postman delivered about an hour ago. Condition is pretty much 'NOS', just needs a bit of dust cleaning off.
