Something a bit different to start the new page, that again I haven't worn in ages: my 'poor man's Jean Lassale Thalassa 7A74-017.

Cheers, Don. ;) And now for somthing completely tasteless. :P

A few years ago, rather than wear it, I hung my blingy 7A38-6109 on the tree as an ornament.

Seeing as it's Christmas Eve (plus I had to get it out anyway - to replace the battery), I thought it deserved a little wrist time:

Merry Christmas :)    This is a Ferrari Formula Cal 531- ( Seiko 7a38 ) I made from two different watches this year.  I am holding my "first" watch which I recieved for Christmas in 1958 at age 12  :D   It still keeps time 56 years later  8)

Hard one to follow that, Don. A red dialed Ferrari Formula Cal. 531 is probably as close to a 'Christmas' watch as you can get.

So here's something different - more subtly seasonally coloured - my Racer J39908-70 on a dark green Certina mock croc strap.

Like my 7A38-6109, in years gone by (ignore the date), I've tried the tree shot  with this watch - and failed. It's a tricky one to light.

Here's an artificially lit Q&D shot I just ratlled off while lunch is cooking:

Merry Christmas, Everyone.

Seeing as I'd had to dig it out of one of my collection boxes, to take a Q&D side-by-side shot (for comparison purposes) for another thread, I thought I may as well wear it - if only to brighten up a typically grey overcast Boxing Day afternoon. My 7A38-728A SAA130J.

My recent purchase and first from Yahoo / Buyee in Japan  8)  Seiko 7a28-7160  Marked  Honda  F1 GRAND  PRIX RACING TEAM :D

It's very unusual face. I've never seen this type. Do you know which manufacturing year?

Steve.

Don's 7A28-7160 Honda F1 was manufactured in 1988. Going by serial numbers seen, these watches were produced in 1988 and 1989. Over the years Seiko and Honda have collaborated on a number of 'F1' branded watches - right up to the current 'Sportura' range. Some are branded Honda, some as Seiko (with Honda Racing in smaller print). The gear tooth motif is a recurrent theme.

I suggest you try googling 'Honda + Seiko'.

The 7A28-7160 was likely produced to commemorate Honda's return to F1 as an engine supplier in the 1980's.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_in_Formula_One and the section Honda as an engine supplier.

The 7A28-7160 was a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) model only - so the best place to find one is on Yahoo Japan auctions.

See this thread: Yahoo Japan Auctions - Watching Watches - continued ....

You'll find a number of references to the 7A28-7160 in there (it's a 5 page thread).

They're not as rare as some folk would have you believe and can sometimes be picked up relatively cheaply (like Don's example). ;)

Speaking of rarer JDM variants, this was probably my most prized acquisition of 2015 - my 7A38-6050 SSJS058 serial # 001. :)

It's a public holiday in UK today, so I took the opportunity to go through my various collection boxes (mostly checking for watches in need of battery replacement - which is becoming something of an all too regular chore, lately). Came across this - another of my favourite self-built Frankens, which hadn't seen the light of day in ages. Basically it's (or should I say was) a stainless 7A38-7020, fitted with the 709L dial from a 7A38-7070 on a Seiko p/n Z1020S bracelet.

Another one that needed a replacement battery (doing the 'two second tick'). The better of my stainless 7A38-6080 SAA089J.

Plus point for roman style numbers! In my openion its a good choice for an "everyday" watch.

I would like to show my 7A38 on a picture but I have no idea how can I upload a photo to this page. Can you help me which icon is means it?

Regards

Steve.

Could you please STOP re-quoting the previous post (and duplicating the photos). It's totally unneccessary and a waste of bandwidth.

To include a photo in a post, you need first to host it remotely (for example on Photobucket). Follow the instructions HERE.

The correct icon to use is the square picture frame to the left of the smileys.

Very topical, Don. ;) Apparently they're worth a Bob or two. :P (Incidentally 'bob' is old English slang for a shilling).

Me ? I prefer my 'blue' dials a bit bluer - or should I say bleu. Yema Spationaute III on a dark blue REWA rally strap.
