Seiko 7A38 - by the numbers

This isn't the watch some members might have been expecting me to post a wrist shot of, this morning, but it's equally ugly sibling. I'm still waiting for the postman to deliver my package from Cousins, containing the similar silicone strap I've ordered  for the other one ....

So in the meantime, here's my 7A38-6060 SAA071J.

Now, as something of an anti-climax, I present you with a very flattering wrist shot of my recently acquired 'Grail' 7A38-6070 SAA073J. 

Seiko 7a28-7110 JDM back after a 900 mile BMW  bike ride and a 1940's US Miltary watch to honor D-Day 

Wearing one of my favourite Yema Spationaute III Aragatz's again today  - still trying to break in the new-ish Fleurus shark strap.

This one's currently fitted with a 'cheapie' Cousins replacement domed crystal, but hopefully I'll soon have the original back in place. I'd wrongly  assumed they were mineral glass - so rather hastily attacked the original scratched crystal which I'd removed with my Dremel.

Seems not - turns out that just like the thick double-domed crystals used in the Seiko 7A38-6060 and -6070, they're actually Hesalite.

So this weekend it'll be back to the grindstone.

Today I will be wearing my Seiko Sports 100 7aA8-702H from November 1983.   I need to align a hand. 

This morning, for the photo, a Seiko 7a38-7000 from November 1983.   Original crystal and finish.  

Thanks for keeping the thread going, in the absence of any other input, recently, Don. 

Me ? I've been wearing this self-built 7A38-7020 based Franken quite a lot lately. As I'm sure I've written previously in this thread, it uses the black / grey 709L dial (from a 7A38-7070) and is fitted with a Seiko p/n Z1020S bracelet with a matching 'dummy rivet' motif.

I've worn it so much, I've actually managed to pick up a couple of 'swirlies' on on the bezel and clasp. Rare for me. 

In fact, I like it so much that I'm thinking about building another one, but this time using the all-black 709L dial. 

Which is going to mean sacrificing one of those two 7A38-7080 'resto' projects' I bought earlier in the year.

Regular WRUW thread followers had better make the best of this, because it's a sight you're not likely to see again .... EVER. 

Shock, horror - Yours Truly wearing a '7A38' on a NATO !! 

Fresh in from Japan yesterday, thanks to forum member Daisuke, my newest incoming Yema Spationaute III 38mm 'reduced' N80A66. This is exactly as received. This watch had been re-listed ad nauseam on Yahoo Japan since September last year - and gone unsold. I guess I took pity on it. Originally I'd planned to break it up for parts (to improve my other one). But it deserves a better fate than that. Obviously it's fitted with incorrect hands (off a 7A28-7100 ?); the wrong (too thin, flat) crystal and the bezel has painted detail missing. All of which I can remedy fairly quickly. But the first thing to go will be that NATO ! 

I can not believe it! I'm stunned! Our leader has stooped to the wearing of a NATO! Dear God please let this just be in jest!
