Fair Warning indeed ....

Last week, I received an email notification of a forthcoming UK online auction from thesaleroom.com, which included a two-tone 7A38-7020. At the time it arrived, there was no image. The opening bid price was a mere £2, so I thought, what the heck and entered a pre-auction bid. Somebody outbid me, so I responded, eventually bidding it up as high as £35 (still sight unseen). I was outbid again; the high bid was then £40. So I left it. Yesterday, I received a reminder that the auction was today - and the auctioneers had finally got around to adding a photo of the watch. Argh !!

This morning at 6:00am, I received an email from thesaleroom.com, informing me there had been a bid retraction - and that I was now the high bidder at £35 !! :o

Needless to say, having now seen a photo of said rather rough-looking two-tone 7A38-7020, I rapidly followed suit and promptly retracted my pre-entered bids !

I have absolutely no intention of bidding on it again. Feel free. Be my guest ....

Out of disinterested curiosity, I watched the last few minutes of the auction live ....

To my incredulity, Lot 257 just supposedly sold, a few moments ago, for £120 plus commission of 29.94% inc.VAT/sales tax, giving a total price of £155.92 !
