The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
Yesterday eccentric Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre created another of his uniquely peculiar 'collection' listings, this time with a Buy-it-Now price of 19,000 Euros. This newest selection appears to include a total of 17 Cal. 531's, a Cal. 532 (7A48), numerous Ferrari ladies watches, a lighter, various pens and a random selection of brochures.

I'm not going to bother posting the other photos, except for this one of 16 Cal. 531's in a presentation box ....
.... which, in his usual slapdash manner, he's uploaded upside down !
The typically vague, grammatically poor description reads as follows: Ferrari formula By Cartier uhren Füllfeder neu und Gebraucht wird aber als gebraucht verkauft Zustand gut alles Original sowie bilder der artikel nur bieten wenn sie es kaufen wollen keine Rücknahme Versicherter Versand.abholung bevorzugt. Google translates it as: Ferrari formula By Cartier watches Fountain pen new and used but sold as used Condition good Everything is original and only offer pictures of the item if you want to buy it No return Insured shipping, pick-up preferred.

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
I expect, like his previous similar listings, it will end as being allegedly 'no longer available' (or because of an error). Not the first time he's pulled this kind of stunt by any means. Here's a just couple of partial posts from the old forum's
Ferrari Formula Fever - when the Red Mist comes down .... thread.

Ahem. Ended earlier this evening - almost exactly as predicted !

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
It would be remiss of me not to add a follow up to my previous posts about the antics of our favourite Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre. He seems determined (in his own peculiar manner) to sell off the remainder of his collection. Over the last couple of days, he's listed the majority of it individually, creating 30 or so new listings, including a dozen Cal. 531, the Cal. 532 and a number of the other watches from the abortive 'job lot' listing.
His typically over-optimistic Buy-it-Now prices range from 1300 Euros for that much re-listed F6434801 to 900 Euros for a couple of other red dialed variants, with the remainder at 700 Euros apiece. He obviously used a template or cloned the previous listing to create these new listings - in his usual slapdash manner.
For example, his listing for the gold dialed variant:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3483896804
Includes 3 photos belonging to the listing for the light grey dialed variant:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3483899560

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
His newest listing of this current half-hearted sales extravaganza is this rather nice all black ion coated with red dial, for which the model number currently escapes me. Unfortunately, he's so far only bothered to upload the one photo, which is slightly out of focus. Then there's his ridiculously over-optimistic asking price of 1500 Euros.

There's an old saying: One man's junk is another man's, erm pile of useless used parts, with a price tag of 400 Euros.
The 'everything must go' clear-out continues unabated. The latest eBay listing, created yesterday evening, by Austrian ferrari_formula_montre comprises an assortment of disassembled / parts watches.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3496034073
Unusually, he's gone to the trouble of uploading 10 photos to this listing. This one shows most of the Cal. 531 parts:
They include a couple of movements with dials, a couple more without, two empty watch cases (which have been stripped completely bare), a partial bracelet, clasp and more. Where that silver painted 'mock croc' strap came from is anybody's guess. What they do demonstrate, as I'd long suspected, is that he likes to tinker. It probably goes some way to explaining a few of the Cal. 531's with dubious combinations of Bezel / Case / Dial and Tachymeter rings that he's listed as 'original' over the years, that I'd commented on in the old forum's Ferrari Formula 'Red Mist' thread.

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
Here we go again. Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre doesn't seem to have had much success selling his watches individually last month. The majority of the listings were ended in the usual manner, as allegedly being no longer available. So it's back to 'Plan A' - A for 'again'. At lunchtime today, he uploaded another set of 'everything must go' listings: One for Ferrari Lighters, another for his collection of Ferrari pens and this job lot of 59 assorted watches, which includes a dozen Cal. 531's and two Cal. 532's for the 'bargain' Buy-it-Now price of 14,000 Euros.

Here we go again.
Ulrich's latest collection mega-job lot listing appeared on eBay yesterday evening, priced (not) to sell @ 13,000 Euros. The number of Cal. 531's (and the odd Cal. 532) included in the lot is gradually diminishing. This time there are only 11. So presumably he is managing to sell the odd one or two, when he lists them individually. The rest ? Who knows.

The madness continues unabated, ad insaniam.
Yesterday evening, at a stroke, he increased the Buy-it-Now price from his original 13,000 Euros to 25,000 Euros !!

To compound that mistake, he also listed it in parallel, as a 10-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Euro.

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
Well, I have to say, I'm frankly amazed. On this occasion, Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre has actually allowed his auction to run the full 10-day duration, without ending it early and cancelling all bids, as he's done so many times before. It ended a few moments ago, with bidding @ 6219 Euros after 17 bids. It'll be interesting to see whether he actually honours the sale at that price, because on the face of it, he's under-sold them.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313613918312
Perhaps he might, because less than 10 minutes after the auction had finished, he ended the other Buy-it-Now listing (asking 25,000 Euros) as no longer available.

Evidently he still has quite a lot more still to shift.
Early this morning, he uploaded another 20 or so eBay listings - mostly ladies Ferrari Formula watches. Not that I regret one iota, having deliberately passed on the dubious opportunity of buying any of his Cartier Ferrari Formula Cal. 531's, I'd incorrectly assumed they'd all gone (included in that job lot sale).

Yesterday afternoon, to no great surprise (it was simply a matter of time), eccentric Austrian Ferrari Formula collector, eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre listed the remaining half a dozen Cal. 531's and the Cal. 532, which had previously supposedly been sold in his job lot auction listing at the beginning of August.

He listed a few other watches in the same batch, in his usual hasty slapdash manner, those linked above taking him just 10 minutes between 15:31 and 15:41 (UTC). He appears to have just copied and pasted the previous listing, because the titles are all the same: Ferrari formula By Cartier Uhr Funktioniert Top Chronograph. Their Buy-it-Now prices range from between 599 Euros (for less desirable dial colours) and 799 Euros (for the red-dialed variants). I simply couldn't be bothered to take (or post) screenshots of the listings. But I did right-click and save the photos, most of which actually appear to be 'new' for these re-listings, though typically none of the watches are displaying the correct day / date.
Most of them are to his usual abysmal half-arsed standard. If you take the trouble to scan through the listings, unless he's realized his mistake and removed them, you'll find these two photos. Did I mention 'Slapdash' ? Need I say more ?

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
This morning, eccentric Ferrari Formula collector, ferrari_formula_montre listed a couple more Ferrari Cal. 531's on eBay, which weren't included in the job lot non-sale at the beginning of August, but have appeared in previous job lot listings, viz. his abortive 51K Euro auction at the end of May, in the bottom LH and RH corners of this group shot photo. He seems to have taken a little more care with these two listings. Both watches appear to be new and unworn, but are typically optimistically priced at 999 Euros apiece.
The first, if I'm not mistaken is a model # F6444401. I know this, because I already own one, in virtually NOS condition. (Mine's not exactly identical, in that it has a gold-plated bezel and red Tachymeter ring, rather than both black in his).
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3671369059
The other is a very similar appearing red-dialed variant with a matt black chrome bezel, but with satin finished (rather than bright polished) stainless case, fitted with a black leather strap and deployant clasp. The lower part of the plastic Ferrari hang tag that includes the model number is missing, but based on what I've gleaned from Ferrari brochures and by extrapolation, I reckon it's a # F6424401.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3671368414
Admittedly, it would be an extravagance, but I could quite fancy the one on the black strap, to make a 'pair' with my F6444401. Were it any other eBay seller, I'd probably have considered making them an offer. Must resist. Must resist.

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
I'd added the Cal. 531's to my eBay watching page out of curiosity. Given his over-ambitious pricing, not surprisingly he hadn't met with any further success in selling them. A few had also evidently been messed about with, like his stainless red-dialed F6104801, fitted with non-standard gold-plated hour, minute and sweep second hands.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 8:42 amYesterday afternoon, to no great surprise (it was simply a matter of time), eccentric Austrian Ferrari Formula collector, eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre listed the remaining half a dozen Cal. 531's and the Cal. 532, which had previously supposedly been sold in his job lot auction listing at the beginning of August.

The 'Red Mist' must have descended on some unwitting buyer, because it sold yesterday for his 799 Euros asking price.

Re: The Ferrari Formula madness continues ad insaniam ....
One Cartier Ferrari Formula Cal. 531 variant had been notably absent from this current batch of re-listings: # F6434801. Eccentric Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre had briefly listed it in the first week of April (per my post here), asking 1300 Euros (cheap by his standards), but had almost immediately withdrawn it as allegedly no longer available.
I knew he couldn't have sold it. He finally got round to re-listing it yesterday afternoon, with another 'think of a number' Buy-it-Now asking price - this time 1899 Euros, which just happens to be almost exactly the mid-point (1900) between his previous extremes of 1300 and 2500 Euros. It's still double* what even this desirable variant is realistically worth.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-form ... 3723077181
The three photos may be new for this re-listing, but it's definitely the same F6434801.
*For example, as a comparison, this F6434801 in similar condition was listed by a German eBay seller in mid-September:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-Cart ... 5050216164
Prior to that, the previous occasion he re-listed it in January (per screen print of my last post in the old forum thread), he was asking an absolutely ludicrous 2500 Euros !!

It's not as if any more evidence was needed, but just to show how confused the evidently eccentric Austrian eBay seller ferrari_formula_montre truly is, yesterday evening he listed the exact same Cartier Ferrari Formula Cal. 531, model F6434801 in a parallel listing, with a Buy-it-Now price of 1399 Euros !! His previous re-listing (@ 1899 Euros) from a fortnight ago, is still live. Not only has he re-used the same primary image, but he's uploaded it twice this time !
