I had originally intended to add this onto the Heads Up on yet another 7A38 Franken(s) - Part 3 !! thread in the eBay section, but unfortunately I was a bit too slow, so I'll write it up here, for posterity's sake.
Readers may have noticed that I've a good eye for a photo and a long, almost photographic memory. That said, it doesn't always take much to remind me - a certain few watches fall into the 'unforgettable' category because they're absolute horrors. One such re-appeared listed on eBay UK yesterday afternoon.

It once was a black chrome coated 7A38-7180, which someone had made a half-hearted effort at stripping the coating. The bracelet, which had been similarly treated wasn't correct for the watch, but a Seiko p/n B1615F normally found on the black chrome coated 7A38-7290. Then there's that re-painted red Tachymeter ring. See my next post ....
Horrible modded 7A38-7180 re-surfaces on eBay UK
Re: Horrible modded 7A38-7180 re-surfaces on eBay UK
As soon as I saw it, I instantly recognised it and remembered having previously written about it, way back in March 2010 on the UK RLT watch forum, not in the original 'Heads Up on a 7A38 Franken' thread, but here in another similar thread, which pre-dated it by a couple of weeks.
Re: Horrible modded 7A38-7180 re-surfaces on eBay UK
After a quick search of my archive folders, I found the original eBay listing photos:
No clear shot of the case-back, but it's indubitably the same watch. Could there have been more than one of them ?

Just to show how times have changed and that almost anything '7A38' is guaranteed to sell regardless of condition, it did so yesterday, a mere hour and 10 minutes later, selling not for the £75 Buy-it-Now price, but an undisclosed best offer.
