Greetings folks,
Long time since I have visited here (in fact first time since the new site started so I had to re-register) but I am getting back into my 7Axx watches having wondered off into collecting Seiko divers for a while (sorry )
Anyway, I have 14ish (I think as I am sure I am missing one) 7Axx's including a fairly nice 7A28-7120 Gen1 which I wear from time-to-time and of course a few of the versions with diver style bezels - which is what made me go off in the divers direction.
I have been going through my watches and checking them out, re-inserting batteries and doing a little light service work etc. when I realised that a couple were still in the condition that they arrived in, including scratched crystals, so whilst checking my database on Seiko crystals (I scraped the entire Boley db into a single Excel spreadsheet then added to it from other scraped resources to make searching for other models with the same crystal or strap easier), I realised that what I thought was a carefully picked collection of good condition examples, is ruined by the fact that my 7A38-7070 is actually wearing a Z1118 bracelet which is the identical to that on my 7A38-7010 - DOH!
Added a pic of the 3 watches in question. I have NOS crystal for the 7010 which I will fit and a Yokobies bezel inset for the 7040 but I quite like the slightly worn look so have not bothered fitting. The 7070 was very clean until I spotted the strap
So I have few questions, if I may: -
1. Am I right that it should be the B1241 on my 7A38-7070 not a Z1118?
2. Is the Z1241 the same as the AA58A on my 7A28-7040?
3. Anyone know where would I find a decent B1241 to buy or swap for a decent Z1118?
Cheers n beers
Si
P.S. Please feel free to delete the statement on scraping activities if at all contentious

Re: 7A38-7070 Strap info
Simon. To answer your questions:
1) Yes, the correct bracelet for your 7A38-7070 is p/n B1241S (sometimes stamped as B1241.E or B1241.P)
2) They may look very similar (apart from the SPEEDMASTER logo'd clasp), but the JDM 7A28-7040 p/n AA58A bracelet is more closely related to Seiko p/n B1075S used on the export versions of 7A28-7040 / -7049. The difference between Seiko p/n B1075S and B1241S is basically weight. Their links are different thicknesses - 2.4mm versus 2.7mm.
3) Keep searching eBay and SCWF Trading Post. You may get lucky.

Re: 7A38-7070 Strap info
Thank you for the confirmation.
I will keep a look out for the B1241S - but I suspect it will be a long stake-out
So since my 7A28-7040 strap is def wearing an AA58A with the Speedmaster clasp, rather than a B1075, it is a JDM watch then? Strangely the links on my AA58A are only 2.1mm thick and the end links with the wrap-over are 2.6mm thick, so even thinner/lighter.

Re: 7A38-7070 Strap info
Yes it is. The other obvious identifying feature of a JDM 7A28-7040 is the small block capital CHRONOGRAPH dial script, as opposed to the italic Chronograph (and SPORTS 100) of the normal export version.
