I pulled out my pristine 7a38 7060 today. Such a versatile reference. Good for just about everything except heavy work, and of course now no water sports.

Congratulations Tom - on being the first member, besides myself, to contribute something to the new WRUW thread - and for starting a new page ! You've also managed to capture the true silvery metallic finish of the dial, far better than I've done. It's overcast in the UK this morning, which is why the dial in my photo has come out that dull flat grey colour. To use the oft-repeated phrase - 'Mine says 'Hello'. :)

This is the very first 7A38 I ever purchased off eBay, way back in December 2008 and effectively started my collection.

That's the UK seller's original eBay listing photo. It cost me less than £50 quid back then, but although I've long since acquired another mint example of the two-tone 7A38-7060 SAA016J, I've kept this for obvious sentimental reasons.

Swapped that two-tone 7A38-7060 for its blinged-up Transatlantic cousin - the US export market 7A38-7069 SAA028J.

Wearing a two-tone 7A38-7260 SAA098J on this dull grey overcast morning. This one's fitted with the correct original Seiko p/n BRZ16G grey leather strap, which was a German market option as SAA098J3.

It's alway nice to have an example on the original Seiko strap, but I still prefer the light grey lizard it wore before.

No worries. I have another fitted with that strap. :D

Swapped that 100% original and correct two-tone 7A38-7260 SAA098J for a slightly modified example this afternoon. Whereas other models using the same basic elliptical watch case, viz. the 7A38-7240 / -724A, 7A38-7250 / -725A came factory fitted with bracelets, all the 7A38-7260 (and -726A) variants only came supplied with leather straps. I decided to fit a bracelet to one of mine. Scary how long ago that was. Checking my records, I bought the NOS Seiko p/n Z1623C bracelet from a US eBay seller back in June 2009 for a mere $5 and subsequently fitted it in December 2009. I've never managed to learn what model it originally belonged to. But I distinctly remember it being a fiddly time-consuming task, radiusing the end pieces to achieve a perfect fit with the watch case lug ends. Job still looks good to this day. 8-)

Wearing this NOS condition Yema Spationaute III Aragatz, fitted with a non-original REWA 'Rally' strap, on this glorious sunny blue SATurday morning. It reminded me of an 'absent friend' and ex-work colleague, whose lovely wife was also directly involved in the logistics of acquiring this superb example. ;)

SATurday afternoon swap for another Yema Spationaute III Aragatz. This one's got the limited edition 'Cadran Drapeaux' mission flags dial and is fitted with a Morellato shark strap. Whenever I wear it, it always reminds me of another special 'absent' friend who more than 'went the extra mile' (in fact he drove nearly 200 miles each way) to collect it for me. ;)

Wearing this still NOS condition RACER J39024-50 two-tone 'Panda' this morning - one of the first batch of Racer J39's that started 'The Spanish 7A38 Inquisition', leading to my now burgeoning collection of them, nearly 8 years ago.

Afternoon swap for the equally attractive 'Reverse Panda' version of the RACER J39024-50. This particular NOS example is my latest, most recently acquired - a couple of months ago which I posted in this thread. It's also my 4th example of this particular variant. I've recently been taking stock of my collection (not before time) and discovered I've somehow managed to amass a total of 10 RACER J39024-50's (in four different dial colour versions) - plus the odd J39924-50.

Afternoon swap for one of my favourite modded 7A38's (call it a Franken in you like - I do). A stainless 7A38-7020, fitted with the 709L dial from a 7A38-7070 and Seiko p/n Z1020S bracelet, which IMHO matches the re-finished case perfectly.

Wearing my NOS condition 7A38-7140 SAA051J, that I've owned for over 10 years, this morning. Got it out to check the bracelet length and measure the width of an adjustment link, for our most recently joined Finnish forum member. ;)

Seeing as I had that watch box open, I've swapped this afternoon for a rather more recent acquisition, this almost mint condition 7A38-714A SAA049J, which was the last model I needed to complete the 'full set' of Seiko branded 7A38's. :)

I got my stainless 7A38-7090 SAA035J out of the watch box this morning. I really can't remember when I last wore it. :( Apart from finding out whether the bracelet still fitted my wrist (it does just, on the last clasp adjustment hole), I also needed to do a 'sanity check'. Of more anon here. ;)

Continuing with the 'Does my wrist look fat in this ?' theme, here's another attractive little 36mm diameter watch from my collection that also gets far less wrist time than it deserves - my black chrome and gold-plated 7A38-7100 SAA038J.

Wearing that watch again, for the first time in God knows how long raised a wry smile. I'd actually first seen it listed on eBay in the States way back in January 2009, but decided to pass on it, because I casually opined it was 'too small'.

Naturally I regretted it later. It came up for sale again at the end of April 2010, listed on eBay UK by the person who'd purchased it in January 2009 (which he later confirmed in an email). Needless to say, I made doubly sure of winning his auction. I wrote up the story in a thread on the RLT forum: And Yet Another Newest Incoming 7A38.

This is another watch that hadn't seen the light of day in a very long time. :( Mostly because of my preference for the full-sized 43 mm version. This is the first example of this variant I acquired and restored 10 years ago. Wearing it again reminded me of the hassle I went through to identify and source the correct original screw-down crown. I documented it in this thread on the RLT forum. In the end, the manufacturer (ISO Swiss) kindly supplied one as a free sample. :)

SATurday afternoon swap for another of my full-sized Yema Spationaute III's. This one's fitted with a Morellato 'Kajak' gommatex strap. It's a bit garish admittedly. I chose it principally to match the yellowed lume of the dial batons.

But the pièce de résistance is the tricoleur lining, which matches the Yema Y dial logo. Vive La Différence ! :P
