I'm wearing something a bit plainer, with rather less red, this lovely sunny SUNday morning. My Cartier Ferrari Formula Cal. 531 model # F6104882. The infamous 'Brexit' watch, which nearly got away.
The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my long-time favourite 7A38-6000 'Dinky Diver', fitted with a vintage Seiko 'Beads of Rice' bracelet, on this lovely sunny Monday morning. One of the 'coolest', most comfortable bracelets to wear on a warm day like today.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my titanium JDM 7A38-7030 SJS018 this sunny morning. First time out of the collection box in a long time.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
As usual, I had to go into contortions, fighting reflections off the domed crystal to get this shot of my 7A38-7110 SJS048.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my all-stainless 'SWISS MADE' Jean Lassale Thalassa 7A74-017 this morning - for the first time in ages.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Afternoon swap for one of my two-tone Jean Lassale Thalassa 7A74-019's. This example has 'JAPAN QUARTZ' printed at the bottom of the dial. (The other, which is identical in all other respects, has the more commonly seen 'SWISS MADE'.)
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
It's chucking it down in my part of England, so I nearly didn't bother taking a wrist shot this morning. Then I relented. No apologies for the crappy rain-spattered shot of my well-worn beater 7A38-7080. Just to show that some of my 'Divers' get wet occasionally.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Greetings from Canada!
Just arrived today this Orient Racer ref. no. J39710-70. It's going to be my daily wear until I find a Seiko 7A28 / 7A38.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing this NOS condition Yema N81W63 Breguet Classique clone on this grey overcast bleu SATurday morning.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my erstwhile NOS condition 7A38-6050 SJS058J on this distinctly dismal unsunny red SUNday morning. For want of any more suitable alternative, it's fitted with a notched silicone rubber strap, in lieu of the original Seiko p/n GK54A perforated leather strap (which it came with) that had unfortunately started to disintegrate.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my attractive dressy gold-tone Orient J39930-70, which came back at Saturday lunchtime, after being away for three months, for a movement service / movement dial swap at the very capable hands of Simon 'Sir Alan' Wilkinson.
Closure - at last !

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing my better than average condition 7A38-705A SAA027J this morning.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Afternoon swap for one of my better examples of the 7A38-705A's peppermint green sibling: the slightly more common 7A38-7050 SAA025J. Even though this example is close to mint, note the typical slight loss of matt black paint from the bracelet's small interconnecting links.
Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing one of my quirky Yema N8's, which hasn't seen the light of day in a long time, on this bright and sunny morning.
It's a model # N81X26 - or more correctly as stamped on the case-back: N8 1X26. Unusual in many respects, notably for its absolutely pointless over-sized 6.0mm diameter screw-down crown, that I've previous described on the old forum as:
'La bête grande couronne vissée'.
This one's fitted with the original Yema pigskin leather strap. From new they were more of a brick red colour, but this strap has faded to a rather nice light tan colour.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Afternoon swap for another of my Yema N81X26's. A slight variation on the quirky theme, with the sans-QUARTZ dial.
This one's fitted with a non-original ribbed black leather strap (of unknown Italian make) which I think suits it better.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing this NOS condition stainless 7A38-7260 SAA097J, fitted with the original Seiko p/n BRA35S black leather strap.
Amusing back story to this particular example, which I think I recounted in the old forum's 7A38-7260 SAA097J thread, but still bears repeating. I bought it 10 years ago from an Italian eBay seller in June 2011, for what seemed like the bargain price of 100 Euros. Here's the seller's single small listing photo (only 500x333 pixels), typical for the time.
It duly arrived and was in better (mint) condition than belied by that photo. However, its timekeeping was extremely poor - sometimes stopping erratically. The eBay seller was a B&M establishment and authorized Seiko dealer. Fortunately, they had included a freshly stamped Seiko warranty card.
So, tongue planted firmly in cheek, I phoned up Seiko UK and asked if they'd be prepared to give it a service (free of charge). They did indeed honour the (then theoretically expired 20-year old) warranty.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Afternoon swap for another of my stainless 7A38-7260's, fitted with a teju lizard strap, which I consider to be a much better colour match for the dial. I thought I'd snapped the perfect shot; came to crop the photo and found an errant hair had invaded the picture !
So here's another, which probably actually shows the true dial colour better. It's far from being black.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
It's a long time since I've done a 'Franken Friday' and even longer, over 10 years in fact, since I first nailed this particular 7A38 Franken together. From memory it was the first that I built, based on the stainless 7A38-702x case and bracelet - and the first one of those I'd re-finished. Originally it retained the correct Seiko p/n B1171S bracelet. This old photo, taken just after I'd first 'finished' it is from August 2010:
The 700L dial, movement and hands were donated by a stainless 7A38-7000 basket case, which cost me a mere $42 and I later decided wasn't worth restoring. The original B1171S bracelet later found a home on a pukka 7A38-7029 and was replaced by the suitably matching Seiko p/n Z1020S bracelet that it wears today. I mean, it wouldn't be a proper 7A38 Franken if it was fitted with the correct bracelet, now would it ? That's how it had remained until this morning ....
Since I fully retired in January, I've gradually been making headway into my stack of unfinished restoration projects. I'd bought another 7A38-7050 in April 2019. Not sure why (other than it was relatively cheap). The case and acrylic bezel inlay were dinged and the bracelet was short of adjustment links. I'd dismantled and cleaned it then put it to one side.
When I re-visited it recently, I began to debate whether it was actually worth restoring. If I didn't re-build it as such, where could I use the dial and movement ? So I thought I'd quickly trial fit it in my old 7A38-7029 based Franken.
Possibly an improvement ? Gentlemen - may I present the Green Oak !

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
Wearing this mint 7A38-6060 SAA071J (fitted with a cheap Cousins silicone strap) on this sunny blue SATurday morning.
I haven't worn one of these in ages. Strapping it onto my wrist reminded me of something I'd written many years ago:
There's a certain irony to that, especially my original post on the old Network54 SCWF. At the time I was deliberately eschewing the 7A38 'Diver' variants. Whereas I still consider this model borderline fugly, I've since managed to end up with 4 of the damned things ! Two are mint, fitted with those cheap Cousins silicone straps, per my wrist shot; the other two are fitted with leather straps, but unfortunately not the original Seiko p/n ZPA22D perforated leather one.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !
What logically follows the 7A38-6060 SAA071J - the 7A38-6070 SAA073J, naturally.
Incidentally, this isn't the same 7A38-6070 that I posted on May 4th. This is my second mint, almost NOS example, subject of a bitter bidding war between myself and erstwhile fanatical Australian 7Axx collector, Stuart Lennard, way back in February 2014, which I documented in the old forum's 7A38-6070 model thread. Knowing how badly I wanted it, Stuart kindly offered to sell it to me (for a considerably lower price) when he subsequently disbanded his collection.
