My Seiko doesn’t move the seconds
I recently got a 7A38 but it doesn’t seem to work besides the fact that the hands move when pulling out the crown. I need help to fix it and want to keep it as it’s a very nice watch

Couple of quick questions for you .....
Is this the one you bought ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/187096442912. If not please give eBay item number or link.
Have you replaced the battery ?
You say the seconds don't move. Do you mean the small seconds sub-dial @ 6 o'clock ?
Do you also mean the time isn't working, or Is the watch totally dead ?

No I did not buy this watch off eBay it was a local purchase. And the entire watch is dead nothing seems to move even after a new battery. Hands and date still move with the crown
Re: My Seiko doesn’t move the seconds
Was it sold to you as working, but just needs a new battery - or as just not working ? Do you have any recourse ?
If absolutely nothing works after fitting a new battery, then you probably bought a duff one. Quite frankly, looking at the cosmetic condition, it's not the best example of a fairly common model, and I wouldn't bother throwing money at it.
If you want to dig a bit further into why it's not working, undo the 7 screws which hold down the anti-magnetic backplate and the battery positive terminal. Remove that and then very carefully remove the PCB underneath, being careful not to dislodge the tiny gold-plated rotary switch. Flip the PCB over and look for signs of corrosion, especially around the battery connection.

Re: My Seiko doesn’t move the seconds
The seller mentioned that it worked before adding a new battery and it stopped working when he did that. The inside doesn’t seem to be corroded. I’ll be going to a watch server and see if they can solve the problem but if it’s too much I might just end up keeping it broken.

O.K. Please keep us posted of what happens.
Meantime, I'm going to move your thread down one section to: Bend it, Mend it - Mods & Wreckers (where it belongs).

Update, to when to get it serviced people were very nice, just hoping that the service isn’t crazy expensive what’s a good price that they would charge for the service.
Re: My Seiko doesn’t move the seconds
It depends very much on what their servicing involves. I suspect it will probably cost more than the watch is worth.
