Help servicing 7A28

Post by NakkDry »

Hi,

I'm servicing a 7A28 black Bond for the first time. Not a expert at all but it's for fun and learning.

I removed the crystal but have no clue how to remove the tachymeter ring under the crystal.

Can someone help me? I want to remove it to US bath the case.

I also lost a switch lever while rinsing the mainplate (I know I should have removed them... I'm furious at myself). Does someone has one to spare?

Thanks guys!

Mat. It might help if you gave the correct model number, instead of some stupid nickname (misnomer).
Should one assume you are referring to the stainless 7A28-702A ? :?:

You may find this helpful: https://seiko7a38.com/archive/i/seiko/d ... /7A28A.pdf See page 3 of the Technical Guide.
Generally, but not in all 7Axx cases, the Tachymeter ring is sandwiched (but can still float, rotationally) between the bezel and the case. Be VERY careful with the nylon gasket between the case and bezel.

Exactly! This is the one : 7A28-702A

I already downloaded this really useful guide but it doesn't have tips to remove the ring under the glass.

Yes, it is sandwiched. I got no nylon gasket. :?

Hint: Assuming it hasn't previously been removed and replaced in a different orientation, the thumbnail shaped notch for inserting a case knife is normally to be found near the top L.H. lug. Before attempting to insert the blade, protect the lug with some tape, like this (obviously having first removed the dial / movement - that old photo was purely for demonstration purposes):
