Quick double take - but not even close to a cigar !

Post by Seiko7A38 »

As I mentioned in another post earlier today, I'm still slightly frustrated by the few gaps that exist in the numbering sequence of my Orient J39 database - particularly J39003-xx through J39006-xx - assuming Orient did use them. :?:

I've lost count of how many times I've googled them, without success. Many years ago, I set up a few random Wildcard* saved searches on eBay. This afternoon one of them (designed to be a J39 'catch all') finally turned up something !!

On seeing the link, I first read it (how my mind wanted to see it) as J39704. Maybe I'm going dyslexic in my old age.

*I'd forgotten how long ago that was !! In fact, according to this old email notification I found, eBay supposedly stopped supporting Wildcard searches (including an asterisk *) back in November 2012 !!

Needless to say, I studiously ignored their suggestion to amend my Wildcard searches. :P They may not be supported, but trust me - they're still working - after a fashion, 9 years later !!
