Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
I don't personally attach great importance to 'boxes and papers', not unless a watch that I'm considering buying is being touted as a 'NOS full set'. (Many you see listed on eBay have been made up: wrong tags, etc.). I concede they certainly do help achieve a better selling price. Lately I've noticed a few Italian eBay sellers asking ever increasing prices for Seiko presentation boxes and / or papers. Profiteering re-seller cmax-28762 has sold quite a few recently, like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seiko-Quartz ... 3717310380
Here's another current Italian 7-day eBay auction, halfway through, with an opening bid price of 100 Euros (Zero bids):
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIKO-QUARTZ ... 4429205435
Another with the 'Royal Oak value adder', asking a whopping 150 Euros, that not surprisingly also went unsold recently:

Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
In the past, I've seen UK eBay sellers asking as much as £25 for dog-eared copies of Seiko 7Axx User Instruction manuals, but not bothered to comment on them. However, it would be very remiss of me not to mention this Seiko 7A38 manual, listed yesterday evening by another Italian eBay seller, with an absolutely ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 250 Euros !!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seiko-Chrono ... 3500878753
Checking his other items reveals he'd listed it a week earlier with a 7A28 manual asking 'only' 450 Euros for the pair.

This is getting silly.
Italian eBay seller bassotto2016 is back again with another listing: box, guarantee and tag - yours for 200 Euros !!

Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
Harking back to the second of those Italian eBay listings for Seiko presentation boxes, which I cited in my first post:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIKO-QUARTZ ... 4429205435
Checking the eBay Bidding History, the auction appears to have been shilled, in the best Italian tradition:
8 of the 9 bids were placed by the winning bidder, who, to no great surprise, has 100% activity with the seller.
Yesterday evening, less than 10 minutes after that ended, Italian eBay seller bassotto2016 added yet another listing:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEIKO-QUARTZ ... 4437800280
Amusing how he's listed its condition as 'New without tags', but has actually included a tag !! Quickly zooming in on his first photo, the tag's card / label appears to be completely blank (the same as in his 200 Euros Buy-it-Now listing). Presumably you're expected to print your own.
Out of curiosity, I'd added that listing to my eBay watching page. The 7-day auction listing for a Seiko presentation box and guarantee booklet ended yesterday evening, selling for 120 Euros after 9 bids.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 7:41 amHere's another current Italian 7-day eBay auction, halfway through, with an opening bid price of 100 Euros (Zero bids):

Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
I note with sneering contempt, that deluded Italian eBay seller fast_pp has since listed his ludicrously priced Seiko 7A38 instruction manual again, in parallel to his existing Buy-it-Now listing, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of 'only' 100 Euros. I'm sure that his adding 'Royal Oak' into the title will make a world of difference (not).Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:57 am... listed yesterday evening by another Italian eBay seller, with an absolutely ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 250 Euros !!

Another greedy Italian eBay seller looking for a mug punter with more money than sense. Listed earlier this afternoon:

Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
The greed and crass stupidity of these predominantly Italian eBay 'Box and Papers' sellers continues unabated.
A couple of months ago, I'd posted this example, which rightfully belonged here, in another thread, to illustrate a point.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384227941476
To my utter disbelief, the Italian eBay seller re-listed it yesterday evening, with the already ludicrous Buy-it-Now price increased to 300 Euros !!

Common sense thankfully appears to have prevailed and that listing ended on September 14th, not surprisingly, unsold.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:21 amThe Italian eBay seller is asking 780 Euros for his 7A38-7029, but it comes supplied with box and papers. So let's play them at their own game. Another Italian eBay seller, who listed this Seiko presentation box, 7A38 user instruction manual and warranty booklet in mid-June, is asking an equally ludicrous 230 Euros for them.

Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
Scanning the latest worldwide eBay search results on 'Seiko 7A38' this morning, I thought we had a new record.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:57 am In the past, I've seen UK eBay sellers asking as much as £25 for dog-eared copies of Seiko 7Axx User Instruction manuals, but not bothered to comment on them. But No - it only equals the previous record (of €250) for greed and stupidity. Another Italian eBay seller, naturally.
Re: Craziest asking price for Seiko 7Axx accessories yet !!
Here's another incorrectly fabricated 'full set' in the making. This plastic hang tag, allegedly belonging to a Seiko 7Axx (type undetermined, take your pick) was listed yesterday evening by a grasping Italian eBay seller, with a risible Buy-it-Now asking price of €51 Euros.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 7:41 amI don't personally attach great importance to 'boxes and papers', not unless a watch that I'm considering buying is being touted as a 'NOS full set'. Thing is, it isn't even a genuine 7Axx tag.
As a general rule (but not exclusively), Seiko product sales codes for 7A38's begin with SAAxxxJ, 7A28's with SPRxxxJ and 7A48's with SPVxxxJ. Although the tag's card insert includes some of the correct wording you might expect to find on a 7Axx, including: Day-Date, Sports 150, 150M W/R, Hardlex Crystal, the product sales code begins with SGHxxxJ, which belongs to the 7N33 caliber.
Specifically, this SGH058J hang tag once belonged to a 7N33-6A30, something like this:

It looks like the Germans are getting in on the act. This 7A38 instruction manual was listed earlier this afternoon by greedy profiteering re-seller m.a.k.2979, with a ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of €155 Euros. A lot less than some of the Italian sellers have asked previously, but ridiculous nonetheless.
