Earlier this afternoon, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca listed a 7A38-6010, in average worn condition, as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $375, or the option to Buy-it-Now for $490 for anybody foolish enough.

Earlier this afternoon, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca listed a 7A38-7029, fitted with an ill-matched (stainless and black chrome) non-original replacement Seiko bracelet, as a 7-day auction listing, with a highly optimistic opening bid price of $700 (and unusually no Buy-it-Now option).

This one's been a long time coming. Here's where I predicted it in early October last year, posted on the previous page:
Seiko7A38 wrote: Sat Oct 05, 2024 12:37 pm Looks like flobaca may be trying to get back into the lucrative 7A38-702X 'Royal Oak' market, which used to be his favourite stock in trade, before he was squeezed out by the competition. I spotted this non-working 7A38-7029 'head only', which sold on eBay in the States, a couple of days ago.

It was originally a 3-day auction, with an opening bid price of $1, and the option to make an offer. It sold within half an hour of being listed for an undisclosed best offer. The encrypted buyer ID, beginning z***3 with private feedback, could only be zenodass44 (flobaca's alter ego, that he uses for purchasing).

The seller uploaded a total of 19 photos, including 4 of the movement, which looked reasonably clean. I suspect it may be a while before it re-appears on eBay, so for future reference, here's the clearest shot of the case-back, showing the serial # 3N5810.

Readers may have noticed that occasionally I fail to uncover where flobaca sourced a particular watch. :| He almost exclusively buys them off eBay in the States, but it's not always that easy to track his activity. I'm not trying to make excuses, just giving this as an example. Here's what I reckon will probably be one of the next 7A38-7069's he lists.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/365695230478

The Purchase History shows the offer was made by an encrypted ID d***z - in all likelihood zenodass44, his alter ego.

Unfortunately the seller only uploaded one photo and so there's no serial number. Pretty it ain't.

I haven't bothered trying to match the serial number. I'm assuming from the level of plating wear on the bracelet, this is, in all likelihood, the same 7A38-7069 he purchased on 27th June (see my penultimate post).

Profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca had re-listed his most recent 7A38-702H for the fourth time in just over a month. Then, on Wednesday, a mug punter placed an opening bid of $275 and he promptly ended the listing early - as sold.

It goes without saying, he already had another two-tone waiting in the wings - this time a 7A38-702A in average worn condition. As usual, it's another 7-day auction listing with an opening bid price of $275, with the option to Buy-it-Now for anybody foolish enough.

He's had this one ready, waiting 'in the queue', for a few months - He purchased it as a non-runner in March, per my post from the previous page, which predicted it:

Here's a prediction for another of Flobaca's future over-priced offerings. This well-worn two-tone 7A38-7020 was listed yesterday, by a US eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of $199.99 or the option to make an offer. They described it as:
It is cosmetically in awesome condition, and I am sure with the proper repair and cleaning it can be an awesome working watch.

Perhaps they were getting 'awesome' mixed up with 'awful'. The bracelet appears to be ingrained with filth.

As I predicted in my previous post, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca's latest warmed-over 7A38 offering appeared overnight - and to no great, surprise it's that same well-worn two-tone 7A38-7020. As expected, he's stripped the last remaining traces of gold plating off the bezel and polished it, leaving the gold dummy rivets. Per usual, it's a 7-day auction listing, with a risibly optimistic opening bid price of $550.

Re: Profiteering US eBay re-seller Flobaca strikes again !

Post by Seiko7A38 »

I had to chuckle to myself. Flobaca lost out in a US eBay auction for a well worn 7A38-7029 yesterday. It was probably best described as scratched all to hell, typical of the quality of watches he regularly sources. The eBay bidding history reveals his continued reluctance to pay more than $225 for his stock in trade. He placed three snipe bids in the closing seconds, the highest of which was $225.99 .... it sold for a competing bid of $226.95.

Couple of slightly belated updates on flobaca's (re)listings ....

His two-tone 7A38-7270, which was first listed in the third week of June, sold on Friday for the $250 opening bid price.

His recent warmed-over two-tone 7A38-7020 sold yesterday, for a quite astonishing $660 after 9 bids !! :o

Checking the eBay bidding history, the auction was won by a determined zero-feedback bidder - typical of his gullible and foolhardy first time buyers. Not only that, but he appears to have been shilled, by another bidder who has 100% bidding activity with the seller.

Although flobaca's current 7A38-7069 remains unsold, he's already got another one lined up. He bought this yesterday for an undisclosed offer - presumably less than $129.99.

The eBay purchase history shows his usual alias zenodass44 persistently making a number of offers during the week.

I spoke a little too soon. :P Flobaca's previous 7A38-7069 eventually sold last week for the $250 opening bid price.

So it was just a matter of waiting for him to list the next one, that I predicted in my previous post. He did so overnight, as the usual 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $250 and, once again, the option to Buy-it-Now for $325, for anybody foolish enough.

Overnight, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca listed an average condition 7A38-7029, fitted with a non-original replacement replacement crown. Typically, it's a 7-day auction with a highly optimistic opening bid of $750.

I had been expecting him to list a 7A38-7029, but not this particular example, which I haven't yet managed to track down. Presumably he paid less than his usual $225 for it. His fitment of the undersized replacement crown, which looks like it might be brass and as if it has been filed down, is typical of his penny-pinching and botching. The correct original Seiko crown, p/n 45M76NS1 is still freely available, including, for example from Cousins UK for £6.95 + VAT.

Here's my prediction for flobaca's next two-tone offering - it's a 7A38-702H which was listed on 31st August as a 5-day auction listing. It sold yesterday evening for $202.50 after 14 bids.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/397009324675

The eBay bidding history shows the winning bidder's encrypted ID as 4***z (private) - zenodass44, flobaca's alter ego.

As I predicted in my previous post, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca's latest warmed-over over-priced 7A38 offering appeared on eBay overnight. It's a 7A38-702H in average worn condition (he hasn't even bothered to replace the chipped crystal), listed as a 7-day auction, with a laughably optimistic opening bid price of $525.

Remiss of me, I'd omitted to post an update on flobaca's previous 7A38-7069 (first listed on 19th August). It sold on 1st September for the $250 opening bid price.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226940879770

He didn't have another immediately lined up in waiting, but it wasn't very long in coming. It appeared overnight, listed as the usual 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $250, but this time without the risible $325 Buy-it-Now option.

I had come fairly close to predicting this one, but held off because I wasn't 100% certain. It sold as a Buy-it-Now for $125 on 5th September.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277363990575

The inept seller had a photo of the underside of the clasp's Z-fold as his primary image. The watch was working, but had a badly smashed crystal, which flobaca has replaced.

Needless to say, the case-back serial number 663279 matches. The reason for my uncertainty, in not predicting it was the discrepancy between the two different encrypted ID's shown in the eBay purchase history.
