Belated Edit: Evidently flobaca decided he hadn't pitched it high enough. Earlier this afternoon, he revised the listing, increasing the opening bid price from $500 to $550.

I almost overlooked adding an update to this one. Profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca had re-listed that 7A38-7029 twice more as 7-day auctions @ the increased opening bid price of $550, without success. He'd re-listed it for a third time in the last week of February. Belatedly checking my eBay watching page, I see he ended that re-listing after 5 days, as allegedly no longer available. So possibly sold off eBay in response to a back door offer ?

Re: Profiteering US eBay re-seller Flobaca strikes again !

Post by Seiko7A38 »

Profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca hasn't been completely inactive recently, but with so many scalpers competing for the lucrative 7A38-7029 'Royal Oak' market, he appears to have been squeezed out lately. He hasn't given up on 7A38's, not by any means. He's been re-listing an average worn 7A38-7069, asking a typically over-optimistic $300 as an opening bid price, since the first week of August, and continues to stubbornly re-list it every 7 days. This is the latest re-listing.

But that 7A38-7069 wasn't what prompted me to resurrect this thread - instead another example of this grabbing grubby little seller's underhanded activities. Overnight he listed this average / well-worn gold-tone 7A38-7000, fitted with a non-original replacement Seiko bracelet, as a 7-day auction, with a typically over-optimistic opening bid price of $275.

I instantly recognised the watch, by its non-original replacement bracelet, as having been listed just over a week ago by another US eBay seller. It was originally a 7-day charity auction with an opening bid price of $0.99 and 10% of the proceeds going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Typically, in his usual lazy manner, flobaca appears to have done absolutely nothing with the watch. Needless to say, the case-back serial number 3O0578 matches. I must admit that I hadn't previously thought to follow up on that listing. Evidently somebody, presumably flobaca, persuaded the seller to re-list it and add the 'Make Offer' option, although his original lowball offer was declined. It subsequently sold for a Buy-it-Now price of $100.

No great surprise that the encrypted eBay ID shown is d***z - flobaca's alter ego zenodass44 that he uses for buying.

Would-be profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca doesn't seem to be meeting with much success lately. Both his gold-tone 7A38-7000 fitted with the wrong bracelet (previous post) and much-re-listed 7A38-7069 remain unsold. However, he may return to his old form soon, because he's recently snagged a cheap 7A38-7029, his favourite stock in trade. It sold a couple of days ago for an undisclosed best offer (presumably less than $250).

It's a typically well worn example. The seller seemed at pains to show the amount of stretch in the bracelet.

Exactly as predicted in my penultimate post, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca listed a well-worn 7A38-7029 in the early hours of this morning, as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $525 - more than double what he paid for it, less than a week ago.

I note that halfway through his second 7-day re-listing, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca has revised it slightly, reducing the opening bid price from $525 to $475.

Note the considerable wear to the once gold plated bezel, pushers, bracelet centre links and clasp. The hands and dial lume is degraded. Also one of the bracelet end pieces is an incorrect generic replacement. Even flobaca has dropped the 'VERY' from his usual 'NICE VINTAGE CONDITIONS'. I haven't so far managed to find where he bought it (likely eBay in the States) or what he paid for it. Nor do I intend to waste any more time looking. Judging by the poor condition, I'd suspect it probably cost him less than $50 bucks.

After nearly a dozen re-listings as 7-day auctions, yesterday afternoon, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca eventually found a buyer for his latest 7A38-7029. It sold for a slightly increased opening bid price of $500.

I made a couple of New Year's resolutions. One of them was that I was going to try to stop bitching about all the blatant profiteering that's rife on eBay. At least stop posting about it on the forum, anyway. Fat chance ! So who should have been the miscreant who caused me to break my resolution, only a matter of hours into the New Year ? Non other than that grubby little long-term profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca (a.k.a. Florentin Ghinet, the 'Scumbag from Skokie'), whose activity is the subject of this thread, whom I'd already previously written at length about on the old forum.

Actually, this one happened last year - 2022. He just managed to squeeze this one in before midnight on New Year's Eve, when he listed yet another tired well-worn 7A38-702H as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $280.

Here's where he bought it from another US eBay seller, less than a week ago, on Christmas Night for a best offer of $99.

The previous seller had uploaded a total of 15 photos to their eBay listing. Here's just half a dozen of them:

Needless to say, the case-back serial number 3D4409 matches. As also shown by the eBay Purchase History below, the encrypted buyer ID z***a (with private feedback) belongs to flobaca's alter ego zenodass44, which he uses for buying.

If I'm not mistaken, profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca already has another well-worn 7A38-702H in the pipeline, before the current one is sold. Having previously first been listed by another US eBay seller in November last year
(and supposedly sold for $150), it had been re-listed and was sold again late last night for $100 as a Buy-it-Now.

My prediction (not exactly a wild guess) is based on the encrypted buyer ID d***z shown in the eBay Purchase History - being zenodass44, flobaca's alter ego that he uses for buying.

My bad. At the time I composed my previous post, I'd failed to notice that profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca had ended two of his current listings late on Sunday evening - both as allegedly no longer available, an hour or so before he purchased the 'second' 7A38-702H. Whether he's managed to find a mug punter buyer for them remains to be seen. :|

Flobaca is so predictable.
Yesterday evening, he listed the well-worn 7A38-702H (that he purchased 10 days ago for $100) as a 7-day auction with a typically greedily marked-up opening bid price of $280.

Profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca listed another well-worn 7A38-7069 last night, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $260. I initially had trouble distinguishing it from one of his previous template-styled re-listings.

However, it's not one I'd seen before and a cursory search has come up empty handed. Note the comment in my previous post about case-backs butchered by the likes of this ham-fisted watch-botcher. This watch is another prime example:

I'm pleased to say that the reason I haven't written anything about grubby little profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca in the last 6 months, is that he hasn't managed to sell any of his dog-eared warmed over 7A38's in that period. Not a single one ! :D He's continued to stubbornly re-list these three every 7 days as 7-day auctions.

The 7A38-7069 is the same one in my previous post, which he first listed on March 22nd this year, with an opening bid price of $260, which he's since reduced to $230. Current re-listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225739656138

The 7A38-702H is the one in my penultimate post, which he first listed on January 19th this year, with an opening bid price of $280, which he's since reduced to $260. Current re-listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354992780241

The gold-tone 7A38-7000, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet, which he first listed on 9th September last year (see this post higher up the page) originally had an opening bid price of $275, which he's since reduced to $240. Current re-listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225739656136

Unfortunately, the reason I'm having to update this thread (not to gloat, honestly) is that despite flobaca's recent lack of success, he still continues in his grubby little money-grabbing ways. Yesterday evening, he listed another 7A38-7069, as another 7-day auction, but with an opening bid price of 'only' $150, which is low by his standards. It appears to be in reasonably good cosmetic condition - certainly much better than the one he's been re-listing since March.

The 'gotcher' is that the 1/10s chronograph sub-dial doesn't work and needs repair (possibly a new coil). Seeing that in his description reminded me that I'd recently seen another 7A38-7069 listed by another US eBay seller which, funnily enough, also had a problem with the 1/10s sub-dial. It was first listed on 1st July as a Buy-it-Now for $150. The eBay seller re-listed it a couple of times and it finally sold on 17th August for $100.

Profiteering US eBay re-seller flobaca hasn't met with much success this year, so far as his warmed-over 7A38's go. That doesn't stop him unfortunately. Even though his previous 7A38-702H still remains unsold, after 8 months and umpteen re-listings, last night he listed another as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of $280.

He's evidently had to do some remedial work on this one, including stripping the gold plating from the bezel, sanding the dinged-up case and fitting a replacement crystal. Still it wasn't difficult to determine where he sourced it from. It was a 7-day US eBay auction which ended on 31st July selling for a mere $52.

Belatedly checking my eBay watching page, I see that profiteering US eBay seller flobaca has finally managed to find a mug punter buyer for his other 7A38-702H, which he had been constantly re-listing, in vain, since January this year.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225801914578

It sold for the opening bid price of $260, to a zero feedback bidder. Flobaca ended the re-listing after only one day of the 7-day auction - 5 minutes after the bid was placed. So let's hope he wasn't too hasty. :P
