Sometimes I try to ignore the many instances of blatant profiteering that I witness on eBay on an almost daily basis. But then I think about the gullible newbies that may fall prey to these greedy re-sellers, for lack of due diligence. Here's an example that I almost temporarily passed on recently. Thing is, lately it's not just stainless 7A38-702x 'Royal Oak's and 7A38-6000 'Panda Divers' that are being re-listed at ridiculous prices. Seems now that any 7A38 variant is fair game to the profiteers - even less desirable models like the borderline fugly two-tone 7A38-6090.
One such was listed by a London-based UK eBay seller, with an Italian sounding username, rotori-e-circuiti on Sunday evening with a ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of £499. I didn't take a screen print of it at the time. I just added it to my eBay watching page. When I looked at the listing again on Monday morning, the seller had ended the listing late on Sunday evening, because of an error in the listing - presumably in the pricing.

Notice that the seller has started the title of the listing 'NEAR NOS RARE'. A cursory examination of the seller's photos revealed that it was far from NOS - there was a considerable area of gold plating on the bezel worn away and you could see the ingrained filth between the bracelet links. Two tone 7A38-6090's aren't particulary rare - they mostly turn up on the continent (Germany and Italy) and the USA, rather than UK. Which got me thinking. I'd seen one fairly recently.
It was listed in the last week of October by UK eBay seller vintagehoneypots as a 7-day auction with an opening bid price of £0.99. That ended a week ago Sunday, with it selling for £122.01, commensurate with the worn condition.

The eBay Bidding History shows an encrypted winning bidder with a feedback of 116 - the same as rotori-e-circuiti.
Although this is the first 7A38 I remember seeing, their feedback reveals that vintagehoneypots is their primary source:
I was wondering whether they'd have the gall to re-list it, which is the reason I'd refrained from posting anything before. Sure enough they did, yesterday evening. The 9 photos, some conveniently soft focused, are all new for this re-listing. They've dropped the words 'NEAR NOS RARE' from the title, but strangely inserted 'Panda Dial' - which it obviously isn't. This time, their Buy-it-Now price is reduced to 'only' £339 - still a considerable potential profit on the £122 they paid.

And yet another profiteering (UK) eBay seller to avoid !!
Re: And yet another profiteering (UK) eBay seller to avoid !!
I was going to upload a photo of my two-tone 7A38-6090 to act as a comparison, but it doesn't appear that I've posted a wrist shot of it in this forum's WRUW thread. Very remiss of me. Unfortunately it's been raining steadily all morning and the light isn't great, so I haven't managed to take one today. I searched through the old archived forum's WRUW thread and found this shot which I took back in April 2012.
It's in average worn condition with scratches on the bezel. According to my records, I paid a US eBay seller $58.97 for it.
From my archives, here's one of a series of 4 photos I took of the watch, back in April 2011, not long after receiving it:

I've found where the 'Panda Dial' comes from. They appear to have copied their re-listing's title verbatim, from this listing by a Moroccan eBay seller, which (not surprisingly, given the price) has gone unsold since December 2021 !

It probably also provided the inspiration for their ambitious pricing. As the old saying goes: Monkey see, monkey do.
Re: And yet another profiteering (UK) eBay seller to avoid !!
Best I can tell, I am still the only person watching this eBay listing. However that doesn't deter this grubby little would-be profiteering re-seller from sending out unsolicited offers. I've received one for 'only' £299 overnight. I shall tell him where he can shove it presently.

Re: And yet another profiteering (UK) eBay seller to avoid !!
I see they've made another revision to their re-listing this lunchtime:
They've edited the title. The erroneous 'Panda Dial' has been removed. Which means they must have read this thread.

I see he's now listed it on Chrono24, with the price reduced to £250 ($319) - slightly more than double what he paid for it 10 days ago. Different set of photos from the previous two eBay sets. These show the worn plating and ingrained filth between the bracelet links better. The second photo shows the plating of the minute hand is tarnished.

Checking my eBay watching page, I see that would-be profiteering re-seller rotori-e-circuiti (as was) ended his latest re-listing for that two-tone 7A38-6090 yesterday evening, because of another error in the listing. The price is still far from right, compared to the £122 he paid for it, nearly a month ago.

Another tactic used by devious eBay sellers to throw you off their track is regularly changing their user ID's - especially since eBay did away with the useful ID history screen. Notice that they've become profiteroles. Re: And yet another profiteering (UK) eBay seller to avoid !!
I don't have any record of them having re-listed it, so it appears that profiteering UK eBay seller profiteroles may have found a buyer for that two-tone 7A38-6090 off eBay. (They were also listing it on Chrono24, asking £250). My suspicions were confirmed when it reappeared on eBay yesterday evening, listed by another UK seller, who's asking £299.
