Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
After their concerted efforts to break into the lucrative 'Royal Oak' market in September met with comparatively little success, I thought Instagram seller TiccTacc might have given up on the idea, and gone back to their normal stock in trade of Omegas, Tag Heuers and Tissots. Seems not. This morning they posted another FS advert on Instagram.
They followed that up with the usual hand held video: https://www.instagram.com/p/CkvEBFuAKBo/
Note that both posts captions end with the misleading statement: 'Tachy scale appears lighter'. That's because it's the WRONG silver coloured tachymeter dial ring out of a two-tone 7A38-7020 SAA010J - Seiko p/n 84311024, instead of the correct black p/n 84311023 that you'd expect to find in a stainless 7A38-7020 SAA009J. In fact it's safe to assume this watch is a Bitza, because it's also fitted with the wrong case-back off a two-tone 7A38-7020. See their photos below.
Note the inclusion in the case-back stampings of: 'SGP BEZEL' and the serial number 7D2849.
I see they've since listed it on eBay, with the Buy-it-Now price hiked to €999 Euros.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TiccTacc%C2% ... 4326475428
It wasn't difficult, because I'd already done the leg-work, but I've found where that two-tone case-back came from !

Their standard modus operandi is to promote their forthcoming sales listings as 'Incoming', per the above posts, using one of the original seller's photos ....
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175411399083
Thankfully the Italian eBay seller also included a nice clear shot of the case-back, showing the serial number 7D2849.
Well now we know what happened to s/n 7D2849. The reason it never materialized (as a two-tone 7A38-7020) - was evidently it got cannibalized for parts, as witnessed by the stainless 7A38-7020 that TiccTacc listed this morning.
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
I note with utter contempt that TiccTacc posted another 'incoming' 7A38 on Instagram yesterday. Despite their random selection of mostly incorrect / irrelevant / keyword spamming hashtags, it's a stainless 7A38-7190 - and allegedly NOS.
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
TiccTacc posted that allegedly NOS stainless 7A38-7190 For Sale on Instagram quicker than I expected, around lunchtime today, with a typically ludicrous asking price of €1250 Euros !
The post was accompanied by their obligatory hand-held video: https://www.instagram.com/p/ClqksOUAECd/
They also listed it on eBay, in parallel, with the already ludicrous Buy-it-Now asking price hiked to €1450 Euros !
In their haste (and keyword spamming) they managed to cock up the model number in the title.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TiccTacc%C2% ... 9436009106
Note the watch is fitted with the 'wrong' bracelet, Seiko p/n B1615S, normally found on the 7A38-7270, rather than the 'correct' p/n B1405S. It's not the first time I've seen this, indeed I wrote about it a couple of times on the old forum.
However I would refute TiccTacc's claim of this watch being 'NOS and Unworn'. The bracelet shows evidence of having been re-finished and although there is a JWC inspection sticker present on the case-back, the lettering has been completely worn off.

Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
I notice TiccTacc have deleted that Instagram FS post this morning and replaced it with another almost identical post, but with the price reduced to 599 Euros. Still more than double what this watch is realistically worth - especially fitted with the wrong case-back.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:04 am.... and predictably replaced it with this For Sale post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CipCFP9LhSG/
Apart from their risibly ambitious asking price of €699 Euros (more than double what even a NOS / mint 7A38-702A/H might make in the real world), there's something not quite right with this watch. Note they'd captioned their 'incoming' and now their For Sale post as 7A38-7020, whereas a two-tone watch with a gold dial is normally a 7A38-702A (SAA012J Europe) or 7A38-702H (SAA014J US market). Checking TiccTacc's photos, this watch does actually have a case-back stamped ST. STEEL SGP BEZEL 7A38-7020, which one would expect to find on the light grey dialed two-tone SAA010J.
Presumably the case-back has been incorrectly swapped for another at some point.
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
Indeed, I'm frankly rather surprised they haven't made more price reductions to their other grossly over-priced 7A38's - particularly in the light of their lack of success in shifting them.
Their 7A38-7140 with the short bracelet (which had previously sold on eBay in May 2021 for 256 Euros - see this thread), still remains unsold a year later, with the ludicrous Buy-it-Now asking price of 875 Euros unchanged.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 12:46 pm Would-be profiteering German Instagram watch dealer ticctacc evidently hasn't received much interest in their grossly over-priced 7A38-7140. I see profiteering re-seller TiccTacc posted this decent looking 7A38-7050 to their Instagram account yesterday, among their recent 'incoming's.
I await with interest to see what ridiculous 4-figure asking price they come up with this time.

Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
TiccTacc posted their incoming 7A38-7050 For Sale on Instagram yesterday, Christmas Day. I'd missed it earlier, because I only briefly searched Instagram on hashtag #seiko7A38 yesterday and they've erroneously titled and tagged it as '7A28'.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CmlXbe0t7AO/
As always, there's a separate post with a hand-held video: https://www.instagram.com/p/CmlXnqGKvHS/
Compared to some of their other over-priced offerings, their asking price of 599 Euros doesn't seem characteristically ambitious. What they've written about the bracelet is bullshit. The p/n Z1148S fitted to the 7A38-7050 (and -705A) is prone to stretching, due the the small black interconnecting links opening out. As indeed can be seen by the gaps between the links in their video. Hence why their bracelet is 'very long'.
PS - At the time of writing, they still haven't listed this one on eBay.

Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
I forgot to check Instagram this morning. I don't follow TiccTacc anyway, so I hadn't been notified that they'd eventually managed to shift another of their ludicrously over-priced stainless 7A38-7020's earlier today - the one fitted with a clasp extender. Sold to some mug punter in South Korea, evidently: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn01XaDK4IX/Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:11 pmAt lunchtime today, TiccTacc deleted their incoming announcement and posted another stainless 7A38-7020 for sale on Instagram, asking a typically inflated 999 Euros. Apart from the blue Seiko presentation box it came in, having already done my homework, so to speak, it wasn't difficult to identify.

Needless to say, they also ended their parallel eBay listing as item no longer available:

Both items are falsely categorised as 'New with tags'.

Checking my eBay watching page, profiteering eBay / Instagram re-seller TiccTacc appears to have found another mug punter buyer for another of their ludicrously over-priced stainless 7A38-7020's. It sold earlier this morning for a second time, for an undisclosed best offer.

The Instagram For Sale post has now been replaced with this: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoHiz68Lf74/
Another one sold to South Korea. Still, when their only domestic 7A38 offering was a locally manufactured gold-tone 7A38-7060, this possibly explains the desperation.
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
I see profiteering German eBay / Instagram re-seller TiccTacc has managed to shift another of their grossly over-priced (and misrepresented) 7A38-7020's in the last day or two. Evidently this one sold for an undisclosed best offer on eBay.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394326475428
This is the misrepresented 'bitza', which I documented in the first two posts at the top of this page, fitted with the wrong silver coloured Tachymeter ring and case-back off a two-tone 7A38-7020.
(At the time of writing, they appear to have overlooked deleting their original FS post dating from 9th November).

Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
Profiteering German Instagram re-seller ticctacc appears to have finally woken up to the fact that they're not shifting all their grossly over-priced 7A38's as quickly as they might. Earlier this morning they ended their long-running eBay listing for the ex-Reddit 7A38-7140, which had run since 10th December 2021, as allegedly no longer available.Seiko7A38 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 12:17 pm Indeed, I'm frankly rather surprised they haven't made more price reductions to their other grossly over-priced 7A38's - particularly in the light of their lack of success in shifting them.

Apart from having a very short bracelet, the other obvious reason for the watch not selling is that it's stupidly priced. But rather than reduce it to something more sensible, they immediately re-listed it with the Buy-it-Now price increased from €875 Euros to €999 Euros. If you're unfamiliar with the history of this particular 7A38-7140, case-back s/n 550149 and want to see the earlier sales history, prior to TiccTacc getting their greedy hands on it - check this thread.

TiccTacc's original FS post dating from 6th December 2021 is still live on Instagram, but you'd have to scroll a long way through their feed to find it. So this morning, to give it a 'bump', they've added this 'BANANA' post with 6 new photos. Note that they've also increased their previous Instagram price from €799 to €899 euros.
Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
According to this strange distorted video they posted on Instagram earlier this morning, profiteering German re-seller Ticctacc has another stainless 7A38-7020 inbound, although to be correct it's actually another similar 7A38-7029.
It wasn't difficult to figure out where they've sourced it. Their distorted Instagram image was recently the primary image in an Italian eBay listing (which did have '7029' included in the listing title).

Profiteering German re-seller Ticctacc posted their latest incoming 7A38-7029 (as a MINT++ condition 7A38-7020 - which it isn't) on Instagram at lunchtime today, with a typically outrageous greedily marked up asking price of €1299 Euros. As was previously visible in the eBay seller's photos, the watch shows clear evidence of having been re-finished. There's plenty of stretch between the bracelet links as an indication of wear. Given the brief interval since it was sold, one might ask the question how they managed to service the watch, earlier this week, as claimed.

Needless to say, just as I'd predicted, the case-back is stamped 7A38-7029 and the serial number 719084 matches.

Re: Profiteering Instagram (and eBay) Re-seller TiccTacc
Once again, I find myself scratching my head in disbelief at Ticctacc's continued success. Are there really that many desperate potential buyers out there with more money than sense, or have Ticctacc cornered the market in wealthy mug punters ? The mind boggles at anybody foolhardy enough to pay €1399 Euros for a refurbished Seiko 7A38-7029.

It's not the same watch in my previous post (as implied by Ticctacc's composite incoming post), but another in rather better cosmetic condition. That said, like most examples which pass through their hands, it has obviously been completely re-finished - the amount of wear can be gauged from the considerable amount of stretch between the bracelet links. Their asking price on Instagram is a typically greedy €1100 Euros. They've also listed it in parallel on eBay, with the Buy-it-Now price hiked to an extortionate €1299 Euros.
