Another greedy profiteering US eBay re-seller to avoid !!

I've previously mentioned the activities of profiteering US eBay re-seller rtm127 (a.k.a. Watch and Jewelry Exchange), Ryan Marucheau elsewhere on the forum, in a couple of threads. Notably:

With hindsight, I probably should have started a new thread in the eBay section. But for now, as I've already posted about profiteering US eBay re-seller rtm127 in this thread, I'll carry on here.

Time has come to give him his own dedicated thread. Ryan had until now skirted under my radar to a certain extent. He regularly buys up JDM Seiko 7Axx's off Yahoo Japan and lists them on eBay with fanciful descriptions and ludicrously marked up Buy-it-Now Prices. However, because most of his current stock have been JDM 7A28's, which I don't follow that closely, if at all, his continued activity had gone unnoticed by myself.

However I simply couldn't fail to spot and recognise the ex-Yahoo Japan JDM 7A38 which he listed overnight. It's a no better than average worn and somewhat grubby looking 7A38-6040 SJS038 with a memorable case-back serial number.

I hadn't posted an update before, but it's to no great surprise that Ryan's ex-Yahoo Japan 7A38-6040, that he first listed in August as a ludicrously priced 7-day auction went unsold - no bids were forthcoming.

He ended that re-listing yesterday evening, as allegedly item no longer available. Then in something of a surprise move, in the early hours of this morning, he re-listed it again as another 7-day auction, but this time with an opening bid price of only $0.99 and no reserve.

Bidding is currently at $83 and certain to go much higher - the listing already has more than 20 watchers. I can't say that I've seen any prior evidence of shill bidding by rtm127, but it's something to watch out for, in the light of his previous ridiculous Buy-it-Now price of nearly $1400. One should also bear in mind that he paid the Yen equivalent of $333 on Yahoo Japan in June. Obviously, being a JDM variant, the best place to look for a 7A38-6040 is Yahoo Japan. There are a couple of examples on there at the moment, both fitted with non-original bracelets, neither of which I'd recommend. However, if you need a recent comparison / guide, this 7A38-6040 in similar (if not better) condition sold last week in an eBay auction in the States for just shy of $390.

Out of curiosity, I happened to run that search again this morning and refined it to 'Seiko 7A28'. Seems Ryan has been trying to corner the market in 7A28-7160 and -7170 Honda F1's, while I wasn't paying attention. He's currently listing 4 of them, with ludicrously marked-up Buy-it-Now prices ranging from $1200 to $1750 - which is at least double (if not 3 times) their realistic value. Naturally all would have been sourced much cheaper on Yahoo Japan.

Ryan's re-listed 7-day auction ended in the early hours of this morning, with the 7A38-6040 selling for a disappointingly (for him) low $285 after 13 bids - earning him a net loss of at least $50. Justice, for once, appears to have been done.

I must say I'm disgusted, but not entirely surprised to see that profiteering US eBay reseller rtm127 has re-listed that ex-Yahoo Japan 7A38-6040 on eBay once again. I didn't expect he would honour the transaction. This time he's asking almost $900 as a Buy-it-Now - more than three times what it achieved in his recent abortive auction sale.

Greedy profiteering US re-seller rtm127's most extortionately priced 7A28-7090 Yacht Timer, at almost $4000, remains unsold, since July - not surprisingly. I'll admit I haven't been monitoring his activity particularly closely of late, but I see he's added two more to his tally within the last week, priced at $3100 and $3500:

No doubt like his previous examples, documented in the earlier thread, they were sourced considerably cheaper from Yahoo Japan auctions. Unfortunately since Yahoo Japan blocked access to Europe and UK in April, 2022, it's no longer possible for me to search YJ history to prove a case. But maybe I already have ! Although he's now offering them with different straps, aren't these the same three 7A28-7090 Yacht Masters he was listing in July ? Re-listed with their prices increased further ?

Although some of his grossly over-priced JDM 7A28's and other 7A38's remain unsold well over a year later, it hasn't deterred greedy profiteering US eBay re-seller rtm127 (a.k.a. Watch and Jewelry Exchange), Ryan Marucheau from scouring Yahoo Japan in search of more potential easy profit. Last night he listed this 7A38-6050, in average worn condition, as a 7-day auction with a typical extortionately marked-up opening bid price of almost $1000 (bar 5 cents).

It sold yesterday evening for the 'reduced' Buy-it-Now price of €899.95. See this earlier post where he purchased it off Yahoo Japan in June 2022, for the Yen equivalent of $333.

I haven't been monitoring Ryan's (rtm127) stash of 7A28-7090 Yacht Timers closely (if at all, if I'm honest), since I last looked at them in December last year. Our favourite shill-bidding Italian eBay seller Giuseppe (oysterdelarge727) listed one as a 10-day auction last weekend (item # 385558717321) and it reminded me. Seems Ryan is still hoovering Yahoo Japan auctions for his stock in trade - and has had at least two more pass through his greedy hands, since I last looked.
His current unsold tally of stupidly over-priced 7A28-7090 Yacht Timers is now up from 3 to 4.

I suppose, seeing as I mentioned it in this thread (in the last link), I ought to post an update here too. Yesterday, after more than two years on eBay, profiteering re-seller rtm127 eventually managed to find a mug punter buyer willing to pay $800 for his scabby 7A38-701B 'Vulcan Bomber' fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet. The mind boggles.

In the early hours of this morning, greedy profiteering US re-seller rtm127 listed another 7A38-6040 as a 7-day auction, with a laughably ambitious opening bid price of $769.95. Admittedly that's somewhat lower than his usual price range, but then it transpires it came cheaply (much less than half his asking price).

He states in the seller's notes:

“Watch is pre-owned but in excellent condition. It looks like it is brand new. It has just been polished to factory standards and hasn't been worn since. New battery also just installed. Works flawlessly. Please see the pictures and read the item description for more information.”

That should read 'over-polished' by an incompetent - particularly the bezel rim, which should be matt !

The description includes the sentences:

The band is small, and will fit a 6 inch wrist size. There are no removable links on the band. You will most likely need to wear it on a different band or buy additional links, unless you have a very small wrist.

Amusingly this watch doesn't include one of Ryan's fraudulent CoA's.

Like all the JDM watches Ryan sells on eBay, this 7A38-6040 originated on Yahoo Japan auctions. It took me a while to find it, because it goes back a few months. It was listed at the end of March as a 5-day auction by a store seller. It sold for ¥38,600 Yen, plus 10% Japanese Sales Tax, giving a total of ¥42,460 Yen, equivalent to $320 USD at the prevailing exchange rate (which has fallen to approx $295 today).

Checking my eBay watching page this morning, it looks like greedy profiteering US re-seller rtm127 has finally managed to find a mug punter buyer for his latest ex-Yahoo Japan 7A38-6040 (the one with the woefully short bracelet). It sold yesterday lunchtime for the $769.95 Buy-it-Now price.

With almost predictable regularity, greedy profiteering US re-seller rtm127 (a.k.a. Ryan Marucheau) listed yet another ex-Yahoo Japan 7A38-6040 on eBay in the early hours of this morning, as a 7-day auction with a risible opening bid price of $799.95. The watch is in generally well-worn condition and unlike the previous example which he (over) 'polished', the bracelet still appears to be ingrained with filth.

This one was previously listed on Yahoo Japan by a 'Store' seller in May of this year, as a low start (1 Yen) 6-day auction. It sold for ¥37,500 Yen + 10% Japanese Sales Tax, giving a total of ¥41,250 Yen, equivalent to approx. $298 at the then prevailing exchange rate (approx. $282 at today's rate).

If I've given readers the impression that greedy profiteering US eBay re-seller rtm127 (a.k.a. Ryan Marucheau) pillages Yahoo Japan solely for his JDM Seiko 7Axx stock in trade, the time has come to correct that. Evidently he's not averse to making a quick buck on anything he can snatch up over there. In the early hours of this morning, he listed a well-worn gunmetal two-tone 7A38-725A as a 7-day auction, with a typical greedily marked-up opening bid price of $269.95.

7A38-725A's aren't rare by any stretch of the imagination. They're relatively common Stateside. But it's been a while since I'd seen one listed on eBay. Funnily enough, the last one I remembered seeing was listed on Yahoo Japan in July.
It was a 7-day auction, which ended with it selling for 11,100 Yen, equivalent to just $76 at today's exchange rate.
