Profiteering Italian eBay re-seller Simone '00' returns !

Subtitled: eBay Seller To Avoid (with extreme prejudice) ....

Simone has been remarkably quiet on eBay so far in 2021, but he's still actively buying and re-selling 7A38's. Instead he's taken to advertising them for sale on the Italian classifieds site Subito. These are the two he's currently listing:

Seems I spoke too soon. Evidently Simone's encountered difficulty shifting some of his over-priced 7A38's on Subito. Earlier this evening, he re-listed this two-tone 7A38-7270, which has remained unsold since at least October last year.
Hardly surprising, given his ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 350 Euros.

Simone's sales tactics are distinctly underhanded. He prefers to deal outside eBay and avoid paying their charges. He'll regularly end his listings early as allegedly no longer available and re-list. Another of his devious traits, intended to confuse punters, is to switch photos, changing the background colour. He usually alternates between red and jade green. Best I can tell, the last time he listed this particular two-tone 7A38-7270 on eBay was in January 2021:

rsz_7a38-7270-stainless-gold-creamface-ebay-jan2021-re-seller-another-1.jpg

From memory, this is the third example Simone's listed on eBay in the last 6 months or so. If you need more convincing of good reason to avoid this dishonest eBay seller, with extreme prejudice, may I recommend taking a few minutes to read the sequence of posts towards the bottom of this thread, from the eBay section of the old forum, which not only demonstrates what I wrote in the previous paragraph, but also exposes his blatant use of shill bidding:

If you read the full story, you'll see the extent of the shill bidding. Hopefully it'll also give anybody foolhardy enough to consider dealing with him a good idea of the true value of an average condition two-tone 7A38-7270. Caveat Emptor. :!:

Simone doesn't seem to be having much success finding a mug punter buyer for his over-priced two-tone 7A38-7270's (note: plural). :( He's reverted back to trying his luck on Italian classifieds site Subito. I fail to understand what he thinks is to be gained by listing them as a pair (for the same price) though.

This came up in my Subito saved searches this morning, but the notification email ended up in my SPAM folder.

Just to give a perfect example of what a complete and utter chancer profiteering Italian eBay re-seller Simone is ....
A week ago, on Wednesday 28th July, he listed a stainless 7A38-7280, with a typically greedy and ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 700 Euros. Frankly, I couldn't be arsed to mention it at the time, because I had a good idea of the outcome.
So it was no surprise at all to me, when he ended the listing as allegedly no longer available, yesterday afternoon.

Checking my Subito notifications, I see he's listed it on there this morning, with a much reduced price of 450 Euros !

Note that next to the star under his username, it states: Nessuna recensione, which translates as No Reviews - and is equivalent to Zero feedback on eBay. As if you needed any other reason to avoid this seller with extreme prejudice. :!:

I note with contempt, that Simone's stainless 7A38-7280 is back on eBay, re-listed earlier today, with the Buy-it-Now price reduced from the previous ridiculous 700 Euros to 'only' 500 Euros.

Meanwhile, over on Subito, he's still struggling to shift that two-tone 7A38-7270. He re-listed it again this morning, with the price now reduced to 'only' 250 Euros. The primary image may be new, but the other photos (on a blue background) look very familiar, I suspect they may have been recycled from a previous listing (per my comment in an earlier post).

Like a bad penny, he just keeps on coming back ! Earlier this morning, persistently greedy would-be profiteering Italian eBay re-seller simone00simone re-listed that two-tone 7A38-7270 on eBay once again. His latest 'reduced' asking price of 330 Euros is still double what any potential buyer in their right mind should consider paying for this example. :!:

Note that in his efforts to confuse punters, he's reverted to using blue crêpe paper backgrounds in this set of photos, meaning that they're probably not actually new, but from last year.

A few days ago, Simone re-listed three Seiko 7A38's on Italian classifieds site Subito, including that long unsold two-tone 7A38-7270, with another different set of photos. The price of that one is back up to 250 Euros.

I hadn't realized that Simone was a member of SCWF, but a week ago, after lying dormant for some time, an Italian member 'Simon' (without the 'e') started posting mostly dross, like 'beautiful watch', etc. in the daily WRUW threads. SCWF requires sellers on the Trading Post to have contributed a minimum of 50 'meaningful' posts on the main forum, before placing For Sale adverts. I knew exactly what he was up to and it wasn't long in coming.

Simone has carried on posting mostly useless dross on SCWF, in his continued efforts to infiltrate and ingratiate himself. He has posted a few wrist shots over the last fortnight or so - and it was the first of these, that he posted (without any caption) here in the 5th October WRUW thread, by which I belatedly recognised him.

The watch, a stainless 7A38-7280, is displaying the day / date FRI 21, so he clearly didn't take the photo on Tuesday 5th. A quick search of my folders revealed that he'd originally included it as the 8th image in his abortive July eBay listing. Naturally suspicious of his motives, I assumed this was a subtle prelude to a forthcoming FS advert on the SCWF Trading Post. If it was, it hasn't yet materialized. Instead, he re-listed it on eBay late yesterday evening, using the same set of photos as his latest Subito advert.

Admittedly it's a decent used condition example, but @ 500 Euros, Simone is still typically asking double the going rate.

Of course, it was just a matter of time before that stainless 7A38-7280 appeared in a FS advert on SCWF's Trading Post, as it eventually did earlier this morning - ironically just a week after I'd hinted it might. The 6 photos are the same set used in his eBay listing, but here the asking price is 400 Euros (same as his Subito advert).

Simone has continued making surreptitious inroads into SCWF, increasing his post count from less than 50 (the minimum requirement to post FS adverts on the Trading Post) to 85 in October. Prior to that, apart from a WTB post two months ago, his account appears to have lain virtually dormant for 5 years. I'm pretty sure what his true primary motives are.
Seiko7A38 wrote: Wed Oct 20, 2021 8:27 amHe has posted a few wrist shots over the last fortnight or so ....
Last Saturday (23rd), he posted this wrist shot of a decent condition stainless 7A38-7060 here in the daily WRUW thread.

There was no text, but I instantly recognized it as a covert plug for another forthcoming FS advert on SCWF Trading post. Simone has been clever in his interpretation of Trading post rules, specifically the '7-day grace period' Rule #2.

As he'd not included any text in his WRUW post, there wasn't any subsequent 'discussion' as such. Technically he jumped the gun, by a couple of days short of the 7-day grace period, when he posted this FS advert for it yesterday afternoon.

Simone's recent incursions into SCWF don't seem to have achieved the desired effect as quickly as he would have liked. Earlier this morning, he listed the stainless 7A38-7060 and two-tone 7A38-7270 on eBay (or re-listed in the latter case).

So now he's gone full circle and as of this morning, all three of his 7A38's are listed on eBay besides Subito and SCWF.

Re: Profiteering Italian eBay re-seller Simone '00' returns !

In a surprise turn of events, Simone's stainless 7A38-7280 appears to have sold yesterday evening, not through the SCWF Trading Post advert, but by dint of his latest eBay re-listing, for his greedily marked-up Buy-it-Now price of 500 Euros.

He's since confirmed that by adding 'No longer available' to his SCWF FS post.

I've lost count of the number of times Simone has re-listed that two-tone 7A38-7270. What had previously been his most recent re-listing was ended a couple of days ago, because of a yet another error.

I can't honestly say I'd actually noticed, but when he re-listed it the next time, he added the option to make an offer. Checking my eBay watching page I see that it finally sold yesterday evening - for an undisclosed best offer.

Simone had continued playing his usual games of ending and re-listing with his last remaining unsold 7A38, the stainless 7A38-7060 throughout the latter part of last year.

He created the most recent re-listing on Christmas Eve. Checking my eBay watching page it appears to have finally sold yesterday evening, though I can't confirm whether it actually sold for the reduced Buy-it-Now price of 450 Euros or an undisclosed best offer (the eBay Purchase History shows an offer was accepted).

After a brief hiatus, Simone has returned to his habitual profiteering ways - picking up almost exactly where he left off. Yesterday afternoon, he listed this decent used condition stainless 7A38-7060 on Subito, with a typical extortionately marked-up Buy-it-Now price of 1000 Euros. :o

He's made an attempt to give the impression of it being 'NOS', if not a 'full set', by adding a Seiko presentation box, 7A38 user instruction manual and not one, but two hang tags. The SAA015J tag is correct. I've no idea what the other is from.

It wasn't difficult to figure out where he'd acquired the watch and significantly how much less he paid for it, because I already had the ended listing on my eBay watching page. It was listed, albeit briefly, by a German eBay seller in the last week of February, with a relatively low Buy-it-Now price of 169 Euros.

Here's 5 of the German eBay seller's 7 photos, which show the better than average used condition. It would however have benefited from a sympathetic cleaning, which Simone appears to have given it.

Needless to say, the case-back serial number 6D1541 matches that visible in Simone's smaller Subito listing photo.

WatchCount.com's Look-up tool reveals that the listing was live for just under 4 hours on the evening of February 23rd, during which it received 97 views.

It had half a dozen watchers besides myself and as many offers were made by at least two other potential buyers, before Simone hit the Buy-it-Now button. Were it not for the fact that the German eBay seller wasn't accepting offers from UK buyers, I'd have considered it was a no-brainer @ 169 Euros personally. Not that I really needed another. :|

So thanks to our cumulative failure to act and Simone's avarice and opportunism, what could potentially have been a reasonably priced decent condition example in the hands of an enthusiastic collector, is now available to gullible mug punters, from this irksome unethical profiteering scumbag for more than 5, in fact nearly 6 times what he paid for it.

No doubt, it will appear listed on eBay in due course ....

Indeed, exactly as I'd anticipated, Simone listed that ill-gotten stainless 7A38-7060 on eBay earlier this afternoon, with a slightly increased Buy-it-Now price of 1050 Euros (and currently without any option to make an offer).

The photos (of which I've only bothered uploading half of his 10) may look very similar to those he'd used in his Subito listing, by dint of the same blue crepe paper background, but they're all new. They now all include the SAA015J hang tag and the other erroneous random hang tag is conspicuous by its absence. Note that he's included the words 'Full Set' in his description - which this isn't (apart from missing the warranty booklet); it's just something he cobbled together to give the impression of being one. Should anybody consider making an offer (when the opportunity becomes available), may I remind you what he paid for this admittedly nice example a little over a fortnight ago - a mere 169 Euros !
