From memory, I think I first started studiously complaining about increasingly exorbitant prices being asked for Seiko 7A38's in a thread on the old archived forum in January 2012: THE CRAZIEST eBay / Yahoo Japan 7Axx prices to date ?
From that thread, and others in which I later documented the loathsome practice of buying and immediately re-selling for profit, it soon became apparent that the worst offenders, by far, were Italian eBay sellers.
Names which immediately spring to mind, as being the most prolific, include:
Giovanni Stregapede - angeli_65 and strega_68
Alberto Ulmi - goffre78; valentinasex, oldantiquestyle and vintagedesign78
Simone Pratassoli - simone00simone (and others)
Giuseppi Macri - oysterdelarge727 and russell_06
They're all still active - to a lesser extent, or in Giuseppe's case appear to have moved on to other things (Zenith). There have been plenty of others too. Another Italian eBay username that I remember from the past decade is onmiller_07. I'm not sure whether I wrote about them on the old forum or not. For literally years they re-listed (ad nauseam) four stupidly over-priced Seiko 7A38's, which IIRC included a two-tone 7A38-7020 and a titanium 7A38-7130. They re-listed them over and over again, so many times in fact, that they managed to get the titles screwed up. I guess they must have sold them eventually, because they dropped off my radar.
Yet another greedy profiteering Italian eBay re-seller !
Re: Yet another greedy profiteering Italian eBay re-seller !
I've recently commented in another thread in this forum section about the increasingly exorbitant priced being asked for gold-tone 7A38-7000 SAA008J's (by a couple of UK eBay sellers). Well our 'old friend' Italian eBay seller onmiller_07 has got them beat hands down ! Yesterday they listed one with a totally ridiculous Buy-it-Now asking price of €1390 Euros (equivalent to £1200 Quid) !

Naturally, because I've been monitoring these things closely, it wasn't difficult to track down where they bought it. It was previously listed by a German eBay seller gerners-uhrenwelt at the end of March with a Buy-it-Now price of €349 Euros, which wasn't exactly cheap. It sold on 12th May.

Needless to say, the case-back serial number 3N0605 matches:
PS - Since adding it to my watching page onmiller_07 has sent me an unsolicited offer of 'only' €1250 Euros, which (goes without saying) I have summarily declined.

The day before, onmiller_07 had also listed a laughably over-priced 7A38-702A with a Buy-it-Now price of €690 Euros.

This one was a little more difficult to track down, because of onmiller_07's poor photographs and the fact that there wasn't a good clear shot of the case-back (only the last 3 digits were visible). However I'm fairly confident in stating that they sourced it from a 7-day auction by vintagehoneypotsEU, which ended on 17th May, selling for €202 Euros.

Trust me, the case-back serial number 398074 and the nick in the bezel's gold plating @ 6 o'clock match.
As does the (1818) feedback number of the encrypted winning bidder.
