7A38-7000 €50 gamble

I never know where to put topics here, apologies if it's misplaced  https://www.ebay.ie/itm/286665687182 Working but chrono no gogo, but check the tension finger. https://i.ibb.co/7x7bqC4k/20250718-132543.jpg So I figured worth a go. Be a fun cheap project. I sorted the finger and I freed up ...

Re: Seiko 7A38-706A date changes early

OP, if you drop the watch to someone to refit the hands he should be able to tweek the chrono seconds hand straight. Still and all having a nos one at the ready at such a low price would be a no brainer. If you were in this side of the pond I'd gladly do the job for you. Any half competent modder or...

Re: 7A28 7029

I dove into my cousins seal kit and fit new ones all round. I had another custom sapphire with clear ar made in 32x1.6mm and it went in with a new gasket I had left over from refinishing my 7A28 bishop. Cousins generic flat section caseback seal and she was all buttoned up. Really happy with the res...

Re: 7A28 7029

The blaster did a good job. It's entirely devoid of gold now with a silver sheen that vapour leaves instead off matt grey other media leaves. Under macro/close inspection you can make out a slight peening to the surface but it's way less invasive than sand blasting to the surface. https://i.ibb.co/C...

7A28 7029

Got this very rough non running example on ebay for fifty dollars, my brother shipped it to me from out there. "Needs a battery" is always a huge risk but I rolled the dice. All buttons appeared seized, corrosion, loss of plating and tons of dna abound. The reason I chanced it is so comple...

I was thinking stuck spring bar removal via the nuclear option
Yeah your idea rings true. What's actually hilarious about the ad is he doesn't mention the elephant in the room, don't mention the war!

Re: Close Calls and Double Takes - Return of the Clones

Fascinating that these clone movements were made, I had no idea. I suppose it underscores the importance and quality of the 7A28 movement. I wonder were these reliable, and why two batteries?

Re: 7A28 7020

As I guessed lol :D Your 7A horde is probably a surer bet than pension contributions in today fiscal market! I'm going to state that I prefer the 7020's egg shell white (?) over the 7060's pearlescent dial, assuming I'm correct in that. I really love white faced seiko chronos and will keep my eyes p...

Re: 7A28 7020

Yes I did read of that condition and wonder lol. Is this the 7A28/38 equivalent of listing a watch as "untested, needs battery" I've bought from them before, a 7t62 flightmaster which was a non runner. It went for strong enough money too. No doubt fellow amateur watch meddlers like m...

JDM version and I've not seen the original packaging before, how cool  . As a big fan of Aliens and the Giugiaro bishop I'd love an example this complete and clean but 1300 lids is too steep for this artifical person

Re: Newbie with 7A38-7270

I'm going to have to start digging into the archived forum so! Save myself a lot of trawling. https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/seiko-part-number-from-860?code=867725 I've bought two of the above seeing as I might probably need one in the future if buying another 7A38. So the date is rarely affected...

Good intel and advice, appreciate that. Similar craic as the 7T32/7T62 regards the plastic changeover wheel then  I've replaced more of them than I care to remember. Are the changeover wheels still available and do you happen to know if they are common to other other movements? They are on the...

Yep that's pretty bad  How many 7A28/38 have you in total?! Fair play to you, it's good to have a passion and beats hard drugs and gambling ;) I have a fair few* 7t32/62 examples which I'm very fond of, one of which I recently found after being lost for ages and I brought it back to life. Was m...
