Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !

Wearing this 'restored beater' 7A38-7070 SAA031J (fitted with a Yobokies' repro' bezel insert) this morning. Next job (after finishing off a couple more posts) is to replace the battery in this one. It's doing the two-second two-step. Another re-post, a watch that has since joined the roster...

Re: Another stupidly over-priced 7A38-7140 SAA051J on eBay Italy

This latest farce has gone on for 3 months now (since 19th July) - per my original post. On 19th July, seller autleaf listed this NOS 7A38-7140 SAA051J with a typically Italian ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 1400 Euros - probably double what it's worth in real world terms. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/...

Re: Another stupidly over-priced 7A38-7140 SAA051J on eBay Italy

And so it goes on and on, seemingly ad nauseam. Late yesterday evening, deluded Italian eBay seller autleaf ended that latest re-listing as item allegedly no longer available - which of course, as on all previous occasions, wasn't true. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304177067915 7A38-7140-Black-...

Re: Yet another mis-represented non-original replacement bracelet

Not wishing to be accused of stating the bleedin' obvious (I am), this well-worn 7A38-7080, fitted with a non-original replacement bracelet was listed earlier this morning by a US eBay seller as a 5-day auction. The fact that the bracelet is completely wrong should be immediately apparent to all bu...

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !

With hindsight, I don't know why I continued buying them, other than being a compulsive hoarder and my inability to resist a 'bargain'. I remember exactly when and why I bought this one though .... Continuing in dress-down mode. :P This morning I'm wearing one of my cheapest stainless 7A38-7...

It sold for a second time in the early hours of this morning, for that increased Buy-it-Now price of 399 Euros. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255188473169 7A38-6000-(Divers)-Stainless-PandaFace-eBay-Oct2021-(Re-listed)-Ended-Sold-399Euros.png Checking the eBay Purchase History reveals the Italian eBay ...

Re: Grubby 7A38-6000 SAA039J - a 'Steal' @ 250 Euros ?

Given the watch's overall condition, I wouldn't personally have classed that grubby 7A38-6000 as any kind of bargain. Even @ 250 Euros, I never considered buying it myself. The price was just 'reasonable', for a change. Transpires even that was too good to be true. It was listed on eBay Italy...

Grubby 7A38-6000 SAA039J - a 'Steal' @ 250 Euros ?

Remembering the frequently ridiculous prices asked (and sometimes achieved by shill bidding) by a few no better than average condition examples last year (as I documented in the old archived forum's model thread ), it made a refreshing change to see a 7A38-6000 listed this afternoon by an Italian eB...

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !

I've just taken a quick stock check and I'm almost ashamed to admit, that I do indeed currently own a total of 10 ( ten! ) stainless 7A38-7270 SAA093J's (besides my modded example ). With hindsight, I don't know why I continued buying them, other than being a compulsive hoarder and my inability to r...

Re: Orient J39 (7A38) case designs re-used in HFA 7T32's

Here's another classic instance of Orient carrying over a J39 design. This Racer HFA030-70 '7T32' was listed yesterday by a French eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of 90 Euros. rsz_racer-orient-7t32-hfa030-70--palladium-gold-whiteface-ebay-oct2021-1.jpg Racer-Orient-7T32-HFA030-70--Palladium+Gol...

Re: A not so 'MINT' example of the 7A28-7000 Ripley Aliens

Edit: Ah I see what happened now. Late last night, some gullible mug punter made Giuseppe a best offer against the original listing, probably under the influence of a glass of vino too many, which no doubt he immediately accepted. Evidently they must have had second thoughts in the cold light of da...

Re: Profiteering Italian eBay re-seller Simone '00' returns !

Just to give a perfect example of what a complete and utter chancer profiteering Italian eBay re-seller Simone is .... A week ago, on Wednesday 28th July, he listed a stainless 7A38-7280, with a typically greedy and ludicrous Buy-it-Now price of 700 Euros. Frankly, I couldn't be arsed to mention it...

Speaking of gold-tone 7A38-7190 SAA056J's, I'd already posted a couple of rain-spattered wrist shots of my beater here.
While I've still got the box open, here's my other NOS example, which I've owned since May 2009 and hardly ever worn.

Re: The ONE and ONLY WRUW thread - Part Deux !

As long as the weather holds, I'll try to post a few more from my 7A38-727x collection box this week, for the simple reason that many of them don't get worn very often. Here's a shot my NOS condition gold-tone 7A38-727A SAA126J, which I managed to grab between the showers. rsz_p1780002-crop.jpg If e...

Re: Who dreams up these stupid nicknames ?

Thing is, when used or abused in the context of Seiko 7A38-702x's, the 'Royal Oak' moniker is a complete misnomer. Here's a handy side-by-side comparison shot which was posted on Instagram a few days ago, by the self-appointed lord_of.the_watches (another misnomer), which aptly demonstrates ...

Re: Another Jean Lassale Thalassa 18K Gold 'Grail Watch' missed

I've no idea who the buyer was, but there's a chance it may have been a dealer. This afternoon, out of morbid curiosity, I ran a search on Chrono24 and found another example, currently listed by an Italian dealer, who's asking a typically over-optimistic 6800 Euros. Luckily, I only searched on 'Jean...

Re: Another Jean Lassale Thalassa 18K Gold 'Grail Watch' missed

I never really expected to find another example in that sort of condition, at what I'd consider to be a reasonable price. Generally speaking, quartz watches are held in low regard by watch snobs, even 15 jewel solid 18K gold luxury models, so dismissing Dorotheum as an exception, I never considered ...

Re: Another Jean Lassale Thalassa 18K Gold 'Grail Watch' missed

The 18K Gold Jean Lassale Thalassa 7A74-011 was without doubt, the most expensive re-branded Seiko 7Axx produced by Seiko or any of their puppet subsidiary companies. The recommended retail price in 1988 was $13,000. Whereas I'd never consider paying 5 figures for one (even allowing for inflation), ...

Another Jean Lassale Thalassa 18K Gold 'Grail Watch' missed

The term 'grail' (and even 'Holy Grail') is regularly bandied about by watch collectors. Yes, I've had a few grails myself over the years, most of which I've succeeded in acquiring. But one of them, which some might consider unattainable, continues to elude me - and much to my annoyance, I've recent...
