Please can anybody tell me if Hong Kong is a good place regarding availability and price for buying Seiko JDM watches? I will go on a business trip to HK and I'm interested in MM300 SBDX001. Thanks!

Yes, if I'm not mistaken Jake from 10watches lives there and had recently posted a pic of the MM300 SBDX001 in a store window and had said he sees them new in shops all the time there.

Here is the picture he posted.

Bump for interest. Does anyone know how the prices in HK compare to Japanese stores like Yodabashi? Their website lists the MM300 at 183,000 Yen.

It's a Flightmaster and look a Tuna also you could get all 3! And sorry I don't know the price on the Marinemaster in HK. You might contact Jake at 10watches, he could probably tell you the best shop to get one from there.

Jake has told me on a number of occasions that HK is watch shop paradise :-d can't swing a dead cat w/o hitting one. they're mostly grey market dealers, however, so if that's a concern...

There is a Seiko boutique run by the AD in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui, which is readily accessible by subway. It stocks a fairly wide variety of JDM models. Bear in mind, however, that you will be paying several thousand HK$ more than you would if you ordered through the usual grey market channels.

Go to Sino Center/Trendy Zone (from basement to floors up) in MOngkok.

Remember: Never buy from the first shop and no harm to ask for discount.

Last I went there I ended up buying a Stargate in a "City Chain" watch shop in the basement of iSquare for about $300 U.S., which at the time was a little more than ebay prices but the nice thing is that I was able to actually handle it before I bought it...this was last October. THe Seiko shop on the upper levels of iSquare was definitely cool, as most models were present.

I'm looking for a Seiko Landmaster SBDB005 and travel to HK regularly. Any idea where is the best place to source for one? Any advice is appreciated!

I have just returned from a month in Hong Kong. With HK having no VAT I thought I could score a nice bargain on a Grand Seiko myself. But I was not able to find any good prices. I was pretty surprised. Getting them via Seiya or Higuchi was always the cheaper option, even after adding import tax. But I did not spend the whole month just looking for wachtes. If anyone knows where good deals on Grand Seikos can be had, please let us know.

However, I was able to find a good price for a SKX007 and a Sumo at three shops who are literally next to each other. They are located at the "Sino Centre" at 582-592 Nathan Road, ground floor. One shops name was Time 4 You Limited, another Super Time if I remember correctly. The third shops name I forgot.

Also of note is another shop in that same building whose name I cannot recall either unfortunately. But that shop had some rare watches I did not find anywhere else: A Seiko SBDX011 (the automatic Tuna), a SBBN011 (Robert F. Marx Tuna), a Sinn UX GSG9, a seemingly mint Rolex Submariner 16610LV, a Great White sub, a Double Red Sea Dweller, and other gems.

Another thing I noticed that not a single shop who had Grand Seikos on offer had any quartz models. Not even the "Seiko Boutique" at iSquare. After enquiring about the reason, they just told me "too cheap"! :D

Don't forget to check around Kowloon too. There's a little shopping center that had a surprisingly good selection of NOS Casio maybe a 10 minute walk inland. I couldn't begin to describe how to get there in words though. :-\
