Offered here vintage 1980s Jean Lassale Thalassa chronograph in 18K gold. Jean Lassale was a Swiss company which was acquired by Seiko a few years after it’s founding. This is a big and heavy watch measuring 38.2mm across by 38.3mm by 9.8mm thick. It weighs a whopping 159.2 grams. The chronograph movement is a jeweled quartz one, showing a 1/10 of a second on the sub-dial at 3 o’clock, constant seconds at 6 o’clock and a 30 minute counting sub-dial at 9 o’clock. From some research I have done on this model, the Thalassa was launched in 1984 to compete with Concord Mariner which was a best selling watch at that time. The Thalassa was designed by Jorg Hysek and actually won Monte Carlo’s Laurel D’Or watch of the year award in 1986. Their advertising referred to this model as: “The most beautiful watch in the world” and claimed that the bracelet contained more pieces than the engine of a Rolls Royce. You can occasionally find a model such as this one in stainless steel or stainless steel with 18K gold but you would have a very hard time finding one in 18K gold such as this one.
IT IS A VERY RARE Model.
In 1988 it carried a retail price of $13,000 as evidenced by and advert posted in magazines at the time by Tourneau Corner.
The all stainless model retailed for $1,800.
Take a look at the bracelet! The bracelet is designed like no other! With over 650 separate parts it is very flexible.
It will fit 7.5 inch wrist.
To make sure this watch will be in running condition for a long time I purchased another one with the same movement but in stainless steel and 18K gold case and bracelet. This way I have the necessary parts should the need arise.
The case is in very good condition with only very minimal ding here and there.
Crystal is very good as is the dial and hands.
All functions are working and the watch is keeping good time.
I am sure you will be the only one with a watch like it in your city or may be the whole state!!!
