For a while, at least, I thought this crackle black Titanium 7A28-7069 sample case might fall short of the mark, for a change. For the best part of today, bidding had languished at only $51. Then, in the final 10 seconds, Bang, Bang - it suddenly shot up to $130 ! :o

Stop rubbing salt in the wound :(

I live in hope that ebay will turn up a really trashed (and cheap) watch with only the bracelet clasp worth salvaging ;)

Here's a pinch more salt in the wound for you, Simon. :P

Remember those 3 WTB / WTT ads from SCWF posted by John 'TheTigerUK' Bentley, that I posted links to on the previous page ?

Where he's still looking for those elusive bracelet parts. Here's his latest: http://www.thewatchsite.com/index.php/topic,42959.htm

WTT: Seiko 7A38-7280

This 7A38-7280 is in perfect working condition, all features, chrono, day/date work perfectly, good cosmetic condition with original bracelet which will fit a 7 1/4 inch wrist nicelyI would trade this for a bracelet clasp and the clasp end pieces (not the lug end pieces i have those) for a 7A28-7080 has per the enclosed pictures.

Now that's desperation ! :o

Oh well, as the old saying goes: You can't win 'em all.

I quite fancied this two-tone 7A38-702x partial sample case, listed on eBay in the States, for re-furbishing one of my 7A38-702H's:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271165542029

Seiko Case #7A38-7024 (4 = presumably a misreading of 'A')

For Seiko caliber 7A38.

Stainless steel with yellow bezel, crystal, crown, buttons, and internal dial ring. It does not have a case back gasket.

The case back is for case #7A38-7260 but fits this case also.

All of these are new replacement parts and have not had any use.

Even though it had been fitted with a skimmed 7A38-7260 case-back. Turns out I just didn't bid high enough in the final seconds:

I guess this means I'll just eventually have to break out this NOS 7A38-702x gold-tone bezel, that I've been sat on for over 3 years ! :D

PS - Sorry about the last seconds snipe, Bob ! :P

Although this 7A28-7079 Sample Case / Partial Band listed by 49Ronnie at the end of March was mentioned in another thread in this section, much to our amusement, at the time  I thought I ought to add it into this thread. Sold for $104 (approx £68.72) after 7 bids.

And still those 7A28-7009 Black Aliens continue to crawl out of the woodwork from behind the ducting on the Nostromo.

Ron Canda continues to do good business selling the sample cases too - even without the all-important yellow plastic buttons:

Something of a belated footnote to this thread - and some rather sad news. :(

I hadn't seen US eBay seller 49Ronnie listing any salesman's sample cases in a long time. Transpires that Ron Canda passed away in September 2016 aged 67. Googling his name (with St. Louis) returns other links to obituaries / memorial sites, though there's no mention of his watch repair business in any of them, I could see.

His website www.candowatches.net is gone, the family watch repair and jewellery business Ray Canda Inc. is closed (according to Yelp) and his eBay ID is shown as no longer a registered user, but his photo (with his son) is still there on his profile.

R.I.P. Ron. It was a pleasure to have done business with you. A true gent.
